Over the coming weeks, the Atlantic Salmon Museum in Doaktown, New Brunswick (Canada) will be auctioning off a large number of fishing artefacts, all with a strong connection to the waters of the West Coast of Canada and the US. The items on offer represent part of a collection that, in 2017, was very generously gifted to us by the family of the late John Keith-King of Duncan, British Columbia (Mr. Keith-King for many years operated the Granville Island Sport Fishing Museum ...and was himself an avid collector). While it is our intent to retain the pieces that relate to our own salmo salar, we feel that those objects pertaining to the Steelhead, the Coho and other species native to western waters should more rightfully be made available to those who will appreciate them most. NOTE: These items are being offered for sale with the express permission of the donors. Revenues from these auctions will help to secure the programs and services offered by the Atlantic Salmon Museum in the months and years to come and, in particular, to offset some of the financial setbacks incurred as a result of COVID-19. If you would like to participate in these auctions, go to www.32auctions.com/Steelhead beginning on Sunday, August 30, and please don’t hesitate to share this message with other individuals or groups who may be interested. Additional information may be obtained by contacting the Atlantic Salmon Museum at 506-365-7787 or at [email protected].
