Here it is, the third post of our #entrepreneurshipweek series. We’ve spent the past week profiling some of our wonderful clients. Today’s post features one of our very first clients, Joe Hamzi and Layla Saleh of @RetourBistro in #Guelph. Retour Bistro is a restaurant that serves authentic #Lebanese cuisine. Joe and Layla opened the restaurant because there weren’t any local, authentically-Lebanese restaurants at the time; ever since they arrived in Canada in 2003, they felt ...that they had to go to #Mississauga every time they wanted to eat something that tasted like home. So, they decided to open their doors in September of 2017 because of their grandmother’s advice: If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. At first, their journey was challenging as the local community was hesitant to try new #flavours and dishes. However, Joe and Layla didn’t let the skepticism stop them. They persevered, and they got help when they needed it. This also echoes their advice for anyone looking to get started in the #restaurantindustry, which is simply Don’t give up. It does not matter how hard it gets, and it will be hard the first couple of years. Keep on pushing and you will succeed. It just goes to show you that sometimes, an entrepreneur’s biggest strength lies in how much they believe in themselves. We hope you’ve found this series inspirational and informative. Continuing our #entrepreneurshipweek profiles, today we’re featuring Alex and @Kaelyehurren of @pal_property_solutions, a real estate investing company from #Hamilton. Alex and Kaely are a great example of two partners wanting the same thing for different reasons, even though they met while working together in #realestateinvesting. For Alex, he had developed a passion for real estate at 16 years old. Starting this business was always a means to change the trajectory of his l...ife towards creating wealth and gaining #financialfreedom, while helping others in his community achieve the same goal in the process. Kaely, on the other hand, is a self-starter who wanted to be responsible for herself, and not have her successes or failures be determined by anyone else. She got her #realestate license four years ago, and it was her time at the other company that helped her realize more people should be investing in real estate, or at least talking about it more. Just like their different motivations, they also have their own words of advice for anybody looking to start their own business. Alex: There are people who make it happen, people who watch it happen, and people who say what happened. Make your choice. Kaely: Create a business plan and share it; allow others to know your goals and help hold you accountable. Be open to criticism and advice There is no room for ego. Today is the start of #entrepreneurshipweek. To celebrate, we are going to spend some time profiling some of our clients. First up are Chris and Julie Aravantis speaking about their restaurant @Eggcetra located in #Guelph. Chris and Julie started their business after they realized they loved being their own bosses, and enjoyed the fast-paced lifestyle that naturally accompanies the #serviceindustry. We love the Adrenalin we get when the restaurant is packed, and we are a p...art of the restaurant ballet. So many moving parts are working together for someone’s visit with us to be one that will ensure their return. The pandemic forced them to go from being a sit-down establishment that offers takeout to becoming a #takeout restaurant; takeout didn’t account for a large portion of sales in the past. The pandemic restrictions and the changing seasons forced Julie and Chris to constantly change and adapt their operations, which also led them, their family, and their staff to adjust their lives accordingly. Their advice for anyone who is considering entering the #foodserviceindustry is simple: Run just kidding. Be ready for hard work, be patient, be tough, be you! You aren’t going to make everyone happy all the time. It’s about serving people good quality food that you would want to be served. Wise words from wise people. Chris and Julie Aravantis are an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs. Having a positive, can-do spirit like them is crucial for successful business owners, especially during these uncertain times.
