On Friday March 5th we were thrilled to have our vaccination clinic here at the Victorian at McKenzie. The VIHA ( Vancouver Island Health Authority) came with their staff of 8 nurses and we as a team set up our clinic in the Activity Room. With all hand on deck and great ideas from both our staff and VIHA we had a very exciting afternoon. Floor by floor we vaccinated our Residents. Once the vaccination was received, we had our Jr. team welcomed our Resident to our " Ice ...Cream Stand" set up in the Atrium to help with the 15 minutes of wait time to observe that everyone was feeling well. Bravo to our team and we look forward to our second round of vaccinations in a few months' time and for the day we can look back at this as a distant memory with our masks OFF!!! Brigitte See more

With all the covid protocols in place we still had lots of love to go around in February. Valentine's Day , kitchen made a wonderful meal for Chinese New Year. A little snow to take us into March, daylight savings time to come. We are all well and healthy here at the Victorian at McKenzie. Big thank you to all the staff for keeping us healthy and happy.

Ensuring the health and well-being of our residents and employees is always our highest priority. Considering the continued spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), we’ve stepped up our existing preventative measures. In addition to increasing cleaning protocols, postponing all large community events, and limiting who may enter a community, we are adding the following guidelines until further notice: - Everyone that enters our community must wash their hands or use available hand sa...nitizer as they arrive and prior to departing. Front desk staff will prompt those entering and leaving to follow this protocol. - We ask all visitors to please utilize the main entrance when they arrive at the community. - We are postponing or cancelling all large community events in which we expect 3 or more outside visitors. This includes converting this weekend’s fashion event from a public event into a resident-only activity. - We are eliminating all outings to public gathering spaces including grocery stores, shopping malls, religious services, theatres and casinos, until further notice. - We strongly recommend that family members do not take residents out of the building to visit public gathering spaces, including grocery stores, shopping malls, religious services, theatres, casinos, etc. - We are closing the anytime café. - We strongly recommend that residents postpone all upcoming travel, including cruises and/or all flights. - Prior to returning the community following a hospital stay, residents must provide either negative test results for COVID-19 (coronavirus) or a note from their physician saying they are infection-free and don’t pose a risk to residents. - We are limiting corporate and regional personnel community visits to only those that are essential. We will continue to monitor Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) updates on the spread of the virus and follow all of their guidelines. We will update this page as the situation changes.
