Have we got a stellar lineup of writers for you this November! The Owl just can't wait to celebrate with NB legend M. Travis Lane, the incredible Annick MacAskill and talented ON musician and poet Conyer Clayton who are launching their newest poetry collections! And we're so excited that poets Sherry Coffey and Ian Letourneau (2016-2018) Fredericton Cultural Laureate and Managing Editor of the Fiddlehead Magazine could join us! Award-winning poet Sherry Coffey is joining us tonight at the Attic Owl from 7-8:15pm! Sherry Coffey’s CNF essay Hiking the Fundy Footpath was published in the Winter 2020 issue of The Fiddlehead. She is an award-winning writer with published poetry and non-fiction. In 2008, she was a recipient of Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artist's Award. She is from the Yukon Territory but lives with her husband, son, and little dog Lambert in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Thursday night from 7-8:15PM, the Owl is so pleased to present Conyer Clayton. She's launching her first poetry collection, We Shed Our Skins Like Dynamite. Check out some of her amazing music here: https://conyerclayton.bandcamp.com/ Conyer Clayton is an Ottawa-based artist and gymnastics coach, originally from Louisville, Kentucky. She has 2 albums and 7 chapbooks, including Sprawl, the time it took us to forget, written collaboratively with Manahil Bandukwala (Collusion Books, Fall 2020). She is the winner of Arc's 2017 Diana Brebner Prize and The Capilano Review's 2019 Robin Blaser Poetry Contest, writes reviews for Canthius, and is a member of the creative collective VII. Her debut full-length collection of poetry is We Shed Our Skin Like Dynamite (Guernica Editions, 2020).

Swooping in to launch her newest poetry collection, Murmurations, is the accomplished Annick MacAskill! Annick MacAskill is the author of two poetry collections, No Meeting Without Body (Gaspereau Press, 2018), nominated for the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award and shortlisted for the JM Abraham Poetry Award, and Murmurations (Gaspereau Press, 2020). Her poems have appeared in journals and anthologies across Canada and abroad, including The Stinging Fly, Versal, Arc, The Fiddlehead, Room, Canthius, Plenitude, and Best Canadian Poetry 2019. A member of Room Magazine’s editorial collection and Insomniac Press’s editorial board, she lives in Kjipuktuk (Halifax) on the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq.

Are you excited for the Owl's Thursday night event? You should be because we're also hosting Michael Prior, author of the incredible collection Burning Province! Michael Prior is a writer and teacher. His poems have appeared in magazines and anthologies across North America and the UK, including Poetry, The New Republic, Narrative Magazine, Poetry Northwest, PN Review, Poetry Ireland Review, and the Academy of American Poets' Poem-A-Day series. He is a past winner of Magma Po...etry's Editors' Prize, The Walrus's Poetry Prize, and Matrix Magazine's Lit POP Award for Poetry. His first full-length book of poems, Model Disciple, was published by Véhicule Press in 2016 and was named one of the best books of the year by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. His second book, Burning Province (McClelland & Stewart/Penguin Random House), was published in Spring 2020. See more

Phenomenal poet Ashley Hynd is joining us this Thursday evening for our FB Live event! 6 EST/7 AST! Ashley Hynd is a poet with mixed ancestry who lives on the Haldimand Tract and respects all her relations’ relationships with the land. She was consecutively longlisted for The CBC Poetry Prize (2018 & 2019), shortlisted for Arc Poem of the Year (2018), and won the Pacific Spirit Poetry Prize (2017). Her work has appeared in several publications including ARC, Room, PRISM, Grai...n, TNQ, The Malahat Review, Best Small Fictions 2019 (Sonder Press), Changing the Face of Canadian Literature (Guernica Editions) and Best Canadian Poetry 2020 (Biblioasis). Her debut chapbook Entropy is available with GapRiot Press. Founder and facilitator of Poets & Pancakes, a monthly brunch for writers run from her home, Ashley believes in building and fostering community. She sits on the editorial board for both Canthius Literary Journal & Textile KW. Her Hobbies Include trampling the patriarchy, avoiding doing the dishes and getting lost in conversations.
