Seasonal Trail Closure. Well folks it is that time of year when we start to close up the trail for the season. Around this time we start to bag some signs wher...e we have shared sections or cross over points of the local snowmobile trails. We do this out of respect for the sled season and all the work they do for their trails and riding season. Also at this time of year hunting is under way, as muzzle loader season is still on till Monday then it is High Power season. Again another good reason to close down the trails so other user groups can enjoy their sport. The Bush gets busy enough at this time of the year with all the crossover sports it is hard to go for a ride and not run into another user group. Today as I was bagging some signs and doing some clearing of trees I came around no less then 11 sets of hunters. Anyways it has been a crazy weird year as we are all experiencing . We have seen a huge increase in ORV traffic on our trail system this year as well. Our westside of the Little Bigfoot trail is actually in pretty good shape, however our Eastside of our trail is pretty beat up and will require alot of grading/grooming next year. This is the roughest and deepest ruts I have ever seen on the trails yet. Hopefully next year the weather will be kind to us and we can get those areas fixed up. Thanks again to all our volunteers, supporters and to the general rider who stopped and gave a helping hand. Take care folks Thanks, Sandhogs Exec.

Trail repairs Update Oct 2/20. Well a big thank you and a shout out to the Next Level Enterprise crew. They spent 2 days hauling semi loads of gravel and spread...ing it out at 2 of our trouble spots. These spots had some very nasty finger washouts or insanely deep water holes which were very difficult to navigate. They spent a lot of time and fuel for free to donate to the club and the trail repairs as they ride ORVs too. Thank you so much never seen these spots look so good! Thanks Sandhogs Exec

Trail Update Sept 25/20. We checked the whole trail today and everything is clear of hazards and downed trees. The trail is in good to very good condition over ...all. Still have a few trouble spots to deal with thou but each have a bypass if need be. Just a reminder that the Adult teen challenge ride is tomorrow and they will be doing the trail counter clockwise from Woodridge and using the Eastman day use spot for their lunch at suicide hill, then heading back along the trunk line trail to do the west side of the trail in the afternoon. Thank you to Eastman for allowing the use of the trail section and the lunch spot for the ride. They have 100 registered riders so please be mindful of the additional traffic tomorrow if your out on the trails. Thanks Sandhogs Exec

If you're out on the trails please be extra cautious in case there's fallen trees or other obstacles across the trail as a result of the high winds this past weekend!

Fire Rating Aug 31/20 Well with the cooler nights and yesterday's rains our current fire rating for Sandilands Provincial forest is at LOW. And with some more ...rains forecasted for later this week that should help keep that rating. Ride safe, enjoy the ride. Thanks Sandhogs Exec

Trail Conditions Aug 31/20 The Little Bigfoot trail is in good condition and free of any hazards. The water holes that have been an issue for most of the seaso...n are now all dried up, so now permanent repairs can be done. On Saturday we changed up and repaired some signage issues as well. Our kiosk at the staging area in Woodridge will soon have new maps showing the now changed LBT and we will include a map of the Eastman trail also, since they are linked together. We hope to also add a small kiosk map location at the junction of the LBT and the trunk line trail that links to the Eastman trail. Ride safe, enjoy the ride. Thanks Sandhogs Exec

I'd say this list is missing a few great Manitoba trails! Don't forget about the Interlake Pioneer Trail managed by South Interlake ATV Club (SIATV), the Whistle Pig trail managed by the Belair ATV Club, and the Rock Road ATV Park near Portage la Prairie. And of course, the Eastman Trail managed by Eastman ATV which joins up with the Little big Foot Trail managed by the Woodridge Sandhogs, both of which are part of the beautiful Sandilands Provincial Forest noted in this article! Check them out at https://trails.atvmb.ca and also on Polaris Ride Command (https://ridecommand.polaris.com)

MAJOR KIOSK PROJECT UNDERWAY Work has commenced on our big map kiosk project with structures to be installed in five locations including 1) East Selkirk, 2) Pin...e Falls, 3) South staging area at the North Star Trail head on Hwy 304 (Stead), 4) North staging area 1.5 km east of Hwy 59 and just 1 km south of Hwy 11 and 5) a kiosk at Belair community on our Beaches Rail Trail. In addition, three railway crossing theme signs wiill be installed on the Whistle Pig Rail Trail with one in East Selkirk, one in Stead and the third one in Pine Falls. We have completed making all the roof trusses and have built the first kiosk in East Selkirk at the South Staging area of the Whistle Pig Rail Trail in East Selkirk adjacent to the Bronze Boot Tavern on Colville Road. The 2.7 meter wide kiosk structure will include large scale maps of all the Belair Forest ORV trails and also a map of the entire Whistle Pig Rail Trail. In the future, we may add some picnic tables at some of these sites. The highlight of these kiosks will be the introduction of new high resolution and detailed trail maps that have been professionally developed over the past month and they look great. The maps will also soon be posted so that you can download the digital .PDF file and color print all or sections of the map. The digital map has a dynamic zoom function so the more you enlarge it, the more resolution you see. The maps will also be used for printing color handouts of our trails and club information for use at trade shows and through some business centers. Funding for these kiosk structures is the culmination of two years of fund raising efforts including grant monies and membership dues. The construction and installation team includes Brian (the hammer man) Rychlicki, Rick (the truss master) Rivers, Pete the Jack of all trades) Konoplenko and Hartley (the saw master) Pokrant. Thank you gentlemen for your hard work. Belair ATV Club Exec.
