Introducing our charity partner for The Spring Gift Show, Windsor Residence for Young Men. This organization works with homeless male youth, aged 16-20, to ensure their well-being and to promote reconciliation with their families. They are currently in need of student bus passes (available to purchase for $9 for a sheet of 5 at local Shopper's Drug Mart and 7-Eleven locations and community centres), food/grocery gift cards and monetary contributions to upcoming projects so please consider making a donation when you attend the show and help them to help others! CLEANING HACK TIP OF THE DAY: Out of fabric softener? Use vinegar! White vinegar is a natural fabric softener AND is great for breaking up chemical buildup on your fabrics (making it great to use in your loads of cleaning cloths and microfibers!)! Simply add it to your machine as you do your regular liquid softener (in the dispenser or directly to the water during the final rinse cycle) for an easy, inexpensive and effective solution to this laundry problem!

In light of the start of a new year and in honour of the 50th anniversary of the march from Montgomery to Selma, Alabama, here is this Friday's FOOD FOR THOUGHT (have a great weekend everybody!):

CLEANING HACK TIP OF THE DAY: Do you have a microwave that has a stuck on mess (especially on the top) and you are dreading having to clean it? Fear no more! Try this "never-failed-for-us" method that we use with our clients' microwaves to get yours spotless with little to no scrubbing! 1. Fill a microwave-safe glass cereal bowl or coffee mug (Corel or similar works also...just avoid plastic as you will get better results with the glass) with warm water. 2. If you want to... leave your microwave smelling fresh, add a slice or two of lemon or a drop of lemon juice to the water. Otherwise, proceed to step 3. 3. Heat the water in the microwave for AT LEAST 5 minutes on HIGH. The water does not have to be boiling but you want it hot enough that it is steaming and creating condensation on the inside of the microwave. In a bigger or more powerful microwave, 5 minutes is often enough but if yours is smaller or older, you may need to heat it longer so use your discretion. 4. When the timer goes, remove the bowl from the microwave and IMMEDIATELY wipe the inside with a dry or lightly damp cloth. In most cases, the steam loosens the residue enough so that it can be wiped clean with no scrubbing! (In the case of stuck on messes, a little elbow grease or repeating of the steps may be needed to fully clean the microwave but this process will greatly cut down on the effort needed!)
