Happy Monday Everyone!!! I am beyond humbled to announce that we have been asked by the world-renowned IDA Institute to partner with them on a project to improve the provision of teleaudiology :) IDA has had a massive impact on my personal career and has served as the foundation for the principles by which Audiocorp operates. Having the opportunity to give back to them is immensely gratifying :) What is teleaudiology anyways? ... Basically, teleaudiology is a way for us to remotely provide hearing health care. We are in front of our computer but our patient can be at home, or work, or anywhere they have a good internet connection. We can adjust hearing aids, give counselling advice, or help trouble shoot problems while we video-chat and talk in real-time. Works great during Covid, and will be a major benefit moving forward for many other scenarios (bad weather, assisted care facility lockdowns, sickness, etc). We are seeing remote consultations become such an important part of health care delivery during the pandemic, with many doctors and other health care professionals engaging patients in this manner. It will become more commonplace as we move forward, and we are very happy to help develop the next model of patient-centered care to improve the communication outcomes in those with a hearing impairment. Thank you for reading, hope you all have an excellent week, and feel free to look up the IDA Institute if you're curious about the amazing work being done around the globe as it relates to hearing impairment. Enjoy :) Trevor and the Audiocorp team
We have seen so much of this in the past year, such a sad part of the big picture with Covid :(
We are so thankful for the wonderful organizations like Liberty Lane, who provide support to our community. We’re happy to help, and encourage you to help how ever you can. We’re blessed to live in such a beautiful, caring city. Happy Thanksgiving!
Always great to start your day with a nice message from the family of a patient, who doesn't love the warm and fuzzies? :) "I just wanted to take the time to say a big "Thank You" for this morning. Mom was so happy on the way home. You always show such compassion and caring to her and I just wanted to tell you that we both really appreciate it." This is why being an audiologist is so wonderful on so many levels, we can help in innumerable ways and impact people's lives just ...by doing our job. What an amazing profession!!! Have a great Wednesday everyone!! Trevor
Just got this email from a patient who I have worked with for over a decade through several sets of hearing aids and numerous health changes. Sometimes it is the littlest thing that can give us clinicians the motivation to continue striving for the best possible outcomes for our patients. I rarely share messages/gifts/cards/letters/etc from my patients, but this one felt right to pass along. A complex case that we have solved through hard work and caring, along with a healthy... dose of wonderful technology for both testing and rehabilitation. I love being an audiologist!!!!! "Trevor, Thank you so much for all the work you put into my hearing aids. They are working just great. The dogs bark is not so sharp, I can understand so much better. I can hear the news and understand it even with a helicopter in the background. Thank you so very, very much."
We are in the "season" of sudden onset hearing loss, please read the infographic below and contact your audiologist immediately should you experience a sudden decline in hearing ability. Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful, crisp, and cool Fall weather as much as me! Enjoy the rest of your week, wear your masks and wash your hands, stay safe out there :) Trevor and the Audiocorp staff
Good afternoon everyone!! With the seemingly constant changes in our world today regarding masks, sanitizer, and other forms of PPE, we at Audiocorp have tried to remain sensible and grounded in our approach throughout the pandemic. We have not been as strict as some organizations up to this point, but we now feel that it is the right time to become more stringent in our efforts to prevent a second wave of Covid-19. Thus, as of Monday, September 21st/2020, we will be requirin...g all patients to wear a mask for the duration of their time inside any of our facilities. This includes while in the booth, in the audiology counselling rooms, at the front desk, or in any other part of our clinics. Of course, those with a medical condition that prevents the use of a mask will not be required to wear one. We will provide a mask for anyone who does not have one when they arrive. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for our patients, but feel it is the appropriate thing to do and an appropriate time to do so. The recent surge in case numbers, schools reopening, the start of flu season, and the colder temperatures are all concerning elements and we wish to continue to do our part to flatten the curve. Our staff will remind each person about mask necessity before they visit the clinic. Thank you in advance for your understanding on this matter and please do not hesitate to contact myself or any other Audiocorp staff member if you have questions pertaining to mask usage. Have a great day!!! Trevor & the Audiocorp team
Was navigating our provincial regulatory body website looking for an application form when I came across this picture and wanted to share. This is a photo of Kelsey Spurrell-Cassidy who received the 2019 NBASLPA award for Clinical Excellence. Kelsey is a tremendous clinician who could win this every year, we are lucky to have her :) Hope everyone has a wonderful week, enjoy the first gasps of Fall!! Trevor
This is a question we are often asked and this provides an excellent summary of most variables involved with the longevity of hearing aids. We aim for 6-7 years of life for each product, which is generally achievable with proper care and maintenance (from both the user and hearing clinic). Another article I read not long ago from a very well respected research audiologist indicated that the electronics inside well-maintained hearing aids tends to deteriorate after about 7 ye...ars. So, follow the instructions provided when you purchased the aids and engage with the clinic that sold them to you to help ensure you get the full lifespan of usage. Hope this is of interest to at least some people out there!! https://www.healthyhearing.com//30926-Long-do-hearing-aids

If you see Trevor this week, be sure to wish him a "Happy Birthday" as he celebrates his milestone 40th birthday today, August 17th!!
https://neurosciencenews-com.cdn.ampproject.org//cor/amp/ As if Covid-19 wasn't enough of an issue in so many other ways, now it appears as if it may negatively impact your sense of hearing as well. Stay diligent everyone, it has been 5 months since this all began so let's continue to stay the course. NB is doing amazing, let's keep it that way :) Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the beautiful weather!!... Trevor See more

I wanted to wish my wife, my colleague, my business partner, my life partner and the mother of my children a very happy 8th anniversary today :) It has been an active and exciting first 8 years of marriage and I'm looking forward to many more by your side. I'll see you and the kids at suppertime and looking forward to a long weekend together to celebrate :) Happy anniversary Jennifer!!!
We are so pleased with the beautiful work by @alisonveinoartstudios . Be sure to take a minute to admire her work when you’re in the office. She is also open to new commissions and has many pieces available to purchase. #canadianart #fredericton #nbstrong #beautiful #art
Please join us in wishing Nicole the very best of luck on the next big adventure in her life. She has been a member of our team for several years as both a student and an employee, and now begins her Master's program to become an audiologist. We could not be more pleased with the career path she has chosen and think she has a wonderful opportunity to become a tremendous clinician. I would like to say thank you on behalf of Jennifer, myself, all the Audiocorp staff and all ou...r patients for the great work you've done during your time here. I would also like to extend a huge best wishes for this next chapter of your life and look forward to the day we get to welcome you back for an internship prior to your graduation. Considering your excellent grasp of audiology already, I can imagine how proficient you'll be in a few years with some dedicated training!! Good luck and kindest wishes from us all :) Thank you and know we're all quite proud to watch your journey unfold!! Trevor, Jennifer, and the Audiocorp staff
Nature is such an incredible thing. I was at my camp last weekend with a friend and I accidentally stumbled across a tiny deer fawn curled up in the tall grass. It startled me as much as I probably scared it, but it was safe and alive and I didn't want to get too close in case my scent got on it. I went back to the camp a few days later and it was gone so thankfully it wasn't injured or abandoned. I think the message I took out of this was that sometimes simply slowing down a...nd doing nothing is the right decision. The deer didn't move, it was so camouflaged I barely saw it. It knew to stay still and stay hidden, that was its best course of action. In today's climate, being calm and patient while not overreacting can sometimes enable us to see the best course of action in our own lives. Nature has a way of showing us things sometimes, we often just need to open our eyes so we can actually see it. I hope everyone is having a great week and looking forward to some good news about an Atlantic bubble later this week (hopefully). Stay safe out there and keep following the rules as best you can, we're moving in the right direction!! Take care everyone, Trevor
Tremendous and tireless work should always be recognized and appreciated. This is certainly very well deserved given the incredible work she has done throughout the pandemic and for the rest of the year as well. We are lucky to have her expertise and leadership guiding our province through this extremely challenging time. Congratulations to Dr. Jennifer Russell!!!
Stay alert and follow the rules, let’s not allow the irresponsible actions of one individual to negate all the incredible work New Brunswickers have done over the past few months. Chin up NB, we’ll get through this :)
For all those who have been asking, all those who have been quietly curious, and all those who enjoy a little bit of wonderful news, we would like to congratulate Kelsey and Matt on the birth of their new baby girl!!! Mama and baby are doing great and adjusting to a new normal within the confines of a new normal :) Congratulations to the whole family, your new life begins!! Have a great Friday everyone, hope this awesome news puts a smile on your face :)
We may look a little different when you first see us, but we're still just as knowledgeable and dedicated as we always have been :) It definitely takes some getting used to but we've got three days of seeing patients under our belts and we're all becoming more comfortable being health care professionals during the time of Covid-19. We're working hard to get through the 7 weeks of cancelled appointments that were in front of us when we reopened, and we look forward to seeing ...all those people who have contacted us over the past week and a half. We will get to you, guaranteed, and we thank you for your patience :) Stay safe everyone and enjoy the warm weather. Follow the rules and we'll all be much better off for it. The fewer events we have like the one that took place in Northern NB recently, the quicker we can move past this phase of our lives. Hope you all have a great day, call us if you need us! Trevor & the Audiocorp team
For those scheduled to see our audiologists this week, it will look a little different when you arrive but you will receive exactly the same high quality service you've come to expect of us. Thank you for your patience as we learn how to practice with the use of new equipment, PPE, barriers, and having to maintain appropriate distancing. We look forward to seeing you, even if we all look a little different in our masks and proper gear. Stay safe everyone!... Trevor See more
It's time to get back to work and we're excited to start scheduling people with our audiologists!!! Contact the office to schedule your appointment and we'll help you navigate through a new world of patient interaction. We have always valued the importance of face-to-face contact with our patients above almost everything else, so we have developed new protocols to allow us to continue our dedicated personal connection while limiting potential exposure. This may take some getting used to but we will continue to follow our patient centered care model at all costs. Can't wait to see you all!!!
