Jane here - on March 13, I was due to attend a Dan Mangan concert in Toronto. I love his live show - he's a talented and warm-hearted performer, and his shows t...ruly bring the audience into the circle. As the concert was cancelled at the last minute, that was the day that really flipped the switch for our community and our world, as we all retreated to the safety of home and virtual content. Dan is also the driving force behind Side Door, a beautiful platform that encourages wide community involvement in concert presentations. Since March, Dan and his team have pivoted SideDoor to offer ticketed online concerts featuring Canadian musicians performing in their own homes, to a cast of 100s and sometimes more than that. The tickets are VERY reasonably priced, and once you purchase one, you're sent a private Zoom code and login time. These are live events that not only you share with other fans, but support musicians in this incredible time of need. So many of us need solace these days, and music is so often that balm.
