The Manitoba Government has announced plans to re-open the economy this morning. Phase one will begin on Monday, May 4, 2020. In phase one, certain health care... services and non-essential retail and service businesses will be able to reopen under strict guidelines, including occupancy limits. Restaurant patios, hair salons, museums, galleries, libraries, day camps and outdoor recreation will all be able to open in phase one. Travel restrictions will remain in place. Phase two, which will start no earlier than June 1, 2020, will see additional personal services resume, including: nail salons, dine-in restaurants, non-contact children’s sports, and film production. Future phases will include other businesses such as bars, pools, spas, movie theatres, and indoor recreational facilities, and more. We know many Manitobans have been financially impacted by COVID-19 and we want to help. MPI will be issuing rebate cheques to our policyholders for a total... of $110 million. What does that mean for you? If you have an insurance policy with us, you can expect to receive a cheque in the mail in mid to late May for between $140-$160, based on the average policyholder (approximately 11 per cent of your policy cost). We are still determining exact rebate amounts for each policyholder, however this information is not available at this time. You can read more about today’s announcement here: https://www.mpi.mb.ca/Pages/nr2020april23.aspx.
