AVANT TOUT, LES ENFANTS/Children Now 22.11.2020

_________________________________________________ Going back to school always puts a smile on their faces, this year maybe more than ever. Learning is essential for turning these children into accomplished citizens. Some of them lack the means to buy all the school materials they require to start their academic year. That’s why Children Now, with the help of our sponsors including the Bon Depart Foundation of the Canadian Tire merchants of Quebec, supplies school bags to numerous children from low income households. In addition to school bags, they receive lunch boxes, books, and all the tools that will help them succeed in school. In these troubled times, the best protection we can equip our children with is knowledge. Many thanks to our donors, sponsors, volunteers and employees. You make a difference for our children yet again. See our blog post to view the video of the events and photos! https://www.avanttoutlesenfants.ca//rentr%C3%A9e-scolaire-

High Conflictivity in Post Parental Relationships with Pascual Ortuño. Video from the presentation at the 'Working with Families in Transition in the 21st Century' Symposium held in 2018 - https://youtu.be/VlPQSAxsIMA The conflict between children and parents in divorces and family breakups is more complex when there are problems of mental illness or gender violence. Until recently, the judicial system was impotent in these cases. But in recent years, the European Court of Hu...man Rights has called on the States to have judicial activism in these matters that effectively guarantees parental relations. The International Symposium of Children Now regrouped numerous experts in family mediation through whom we had the chance to hear different conferences pertinent to how to deal with high conflict family situations. //// Another successful summer camp for underprivileged children aged between 10 and 12 years old! As summer camps were unable to accommodate children over night during this time, this year, we partnered with day camps to provide a multiple day getaway for the children that had been sponsored. We provided daily transit so that the children were able to return for multiple days, allowing them to live out their summer adventures as originally intended. The camps took place during the first 2 weeks of August at the Domaine Scout St-Louis-France for the children of Montreal, Trois-Rivière and Quebec City. The children who participated in this year’s summer camps were selected with the help of the following local community centers: - La Ruche Vanier (August 10-11) and Centre L’Évasion St-Pie X (August 12-13) in Quebec, - Carrefour des 6-12 ans de Pierrefonds Est (August 4-5) and Les Chemins du Soleil (August 6-7) in Montreal, and - Les Parents Partenaires (August 6-7) in Trois-Rivières Watch the video and photos of the event below!

Children in Dispute Resolution with Jon Graham LLB and Lori Yasenik PhD. Video from the presentation at the 'Working with Families in Transition in the 21st Century' Symposium held in 2018 - https://youtu.be/heW1KBXVqoE In this conference, a four-level Child-Centered Continuum Model (CCCM) for being child focused and child inclusive is introduced as a skills based framework to increase the likelihood that children are considered in mediation and alternative dispute resolutio...n (ADR) processes. This framework highlights children as parties to versus objects of family matters that affect them and begins with the belief that children are active participants in family systems. Parent readiness to hear their children is reviewed as well as a description of each of the four levels of the CCCM. Issues related to ADR practitioner neutrality, child and family safety, and skills are addressed. The International Symposium of Children Now regrouped numerous experts in family mediation through whom we had the chance to hear different conferences pertinent to how to deal with high conflict family situations.
