Just a reminder that today marks the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. As part of Avenue Church's ongoing journey of learning and reconciliation, we encourage you to find a way to meaningfully learn and engage in this day. Here is a list of some of the events happening around Edmonton: https://bit.ly/3m8h3jG A short history of Orange Shirt Day:... https://bit.ly/3iguI7a Learning and crafts that can be done with children: https://bit.ly/3zVqLuz Image from The Survivor's Flag (follow link for explanation): https://nctr.ca/exhibits/survivors-flag/

Hospitality Volunteers - Information and Orientation Meeting Our hospitality volunteers are an integral part of our ministry and community at Avenue Church. They are often the first people to express both God's hospitality and Avenue Church's welcome to those who come in the building on a Sunday morning! If you are currently a hospitality volunteer or would like more information on becoming one, please join us on Oct. 3 following the service in the Prayerworks Hall. We'll loo...k at the vision of this ministry together and explore the ways in which we can effectively carry it out. If you are unable to attend the meeting but are still interested, please contact Pastor Aaron ([email protected]) and he will send you the material being covered.

I saw a question posted to social media recently: "Do you believe in God and in the power of prayer?" How would you answer that? Some responses I saw said yes to the first question and no to the second. I understand. With how difficult life can be, I can still believe that there is a God but it sure seems like he isn't listening to or answering our prayers. In his letter, James encourages the church to be praying for one another. What's more he instructs them to expect God to... answer in powerful ways! But instead of giving us a formula for the proper words or a way to pray with maximum effort to get what we want in prayer, James calls us to something else - an intimate and trusting relationship with God. Please join us this Sunday as God teaches us how to orient our hearts in prayer so that we may see him at work in our lives and in the world. Our worship service begins at 9:30 in-person at St. Faith's Anglican (11725-93 St.) or online.

Attention! It's the beginning of a new year. This time of year is the perfect time to touch base as a church on topics we do not hear about from day to day. Please join us after church on January 31. Have some lunch on the couch and join us to hear about the church budget, our ministry relationship with St. Faiths, and some other brief topics. We look forward to sharing our updates for the year, and expect this to be a life-giving time.

Miracles as Clues What a person says or does. How a person lives, dresses, spends time. Who a person spends time with. These are all clues that help us identify and understand the people around us. In the same way the miracles of Jesus are clues which help us understand who Jesus is and the kingdom he is bringing. What clues to Jesus’ identity can we find in the different kinds of miracles Jesus did? Join us this Sunday for our All Ages service as we learn about Jesus’ ...greatness, his power, his mercy, his love through the miracles he performed. Services: Due to the high case numbers and greater government restrictions services will be on-line only until further notice. Please join us on-line by going to our website avenuechurch.ca or our Facebook page facebook.com/avenuechurchyeg. Join us immediately after the service for fellowship via zoom at: https://zoom.us/j/377705859
