Your accident may have knocked you unconscious, or you may have been hospitalized for a lenthy period of time. Contrary to popular belief the police do not go out of their way to seek out unbiased witnesses and in some cases they will rely on the statement of the only conscious driver and will make only one hospital visit to get the other drivers / pedestrian's statement; and if they cannot understand that person (due to age or a thick NL accent or just non -communicatory behaviour) the accident reports end up reflecting the biased opinion of the driver who was actually at fault.
