So this is a bit of a random post, but I over the last few years I've realized how important it is to be deeply passionate about what you do. And if you ask some of the people around me they may tell you first how much I love what I do, aside from letting it consume me at times. Furthermore, the real goal is to be completely and utterly yourself while doing what you love (or atleast thats the goal). This, I will admit, has been a hard feat for me as I was taught at a young a...ge to be polite do what is asked of you and don’t ask questions. Seems a bit more strict than it comes off, but especially ‘conform’. And if you knew me in my early 20s-30s you will know I rebelled against this theory. Although with much deliberation I have come to a lovely beautiful balance. And quite content with the path I’ve taken (the very messy one at that). Oy. That said, I also read a Forbes post recently that had me thinking It gave stats and technical stuff on the effects of burnout and the self restricting cultures. But what stood out most was a quote: Bringing our whole selves to work means showing up authentically, leading with humility and remembering that we’re all vulnerable, imperfect human beings doing the best we can. It’s also about having the courage to take risks, speak up, ask for help, connect with others in a genuine way and allow ourselves to be truly seen.
