BURGERS TO BEAT MS Kenora 2020 total raised

Randy Nickle and his team of dedicated staff work hard to ensure that when guests feel far from home on Burgers to Beat MS Day, the A&W location at Kenora provi...des them with a sense of community. Randy may not be directly affected by MS, but over the past 11 years, he has become devoted to the MS cause. As a dedicated franchisee of the beloved Kenora A&W restaurant, Randy has been committed to putting smiles on the faces of locals and passersby leaving the cottage country since 1982. "I choose to support this cause because the funds we raise make such a huge impact on people living with MS. During the past 11 years, the MS Society representatives have been very appreciative of our efforts. I hope to reciprocate their sentiment by achieving our fundraising goal of over $21,000. At our A&W location, we like to raise funds in a fun and active way. We always hire a local band, organize a walk-a-thon, and sell fishing lures and rain barrels. At last year's walk-a-thon, a woman living with MS wanted to participate, and even though it was tough, she persevered. When she finished, the look in her eyes made me shed a tear." Even though Randy and the rest of his team will miss the lively atmosphere of the band and the huge lineups of crowds awaiting their Teen Burgers, they are excited to adapt to a new way of doing things in 2020. We’re still continuing our roundups at the till, our rain barrel sales, and the employee sales contests, but this year, we’re also arranging a special virtual guest speaker to kick-off the day. Randy recognizes that it requires the collaborative effort of a team to make this event a success, and he is grateful for the support. Year after year, our assistant manager Jennifer has worked tirelessly on this campaign, understanding the importance of the cause and the community. She comes up with new ways to raise funds each year. My manager Michelle also contributes tremendously, ensuring everything is organized for the day of. I am really looking forward to working with my son Taylor this year at the store. And of course, none of this would be possible without the efforts of the entire staff at A&W. This Burgers to Beat MS Day, the MS Society would like to express a heartfelt thank you to A&W Canada, and all A&W staff across the country for their tremendous efforts during this year’s campaign. With their participation and the support of our MS community, we continue to build awareness about the disease and raise much-needed funds to support Canadians living with and affected by MS.
