Dance Safe Ontario is celebrating the news that the Ontario Government is providing $25 million dollars in support through the Ontario Arts Council to support professional artists and arts organizations recasted by the pandemic. We need to support the artists of today, but we also need to support the artists of tomorrow. The dancers at Ballet Jorgensen Minister Macleod spoke of began their career as a child in a local dance school. Professional dancers in Ontario can all trac...e their beginnings back to the dance studio classroom where they began their lessons. We are not asking for direct financial support or funding. We are simply asking for the opportunity to open our classrooms safely for children to continue their journey in the arts. While few will become professionals, they all will become adults that appreciate the arts. We all rely on the arts in our everyday lives. The arts help us emotionally, psychologically and even help to shape our individual and collective personalities. And for dance this all begins in the classroom at the local dance studio. We ask once again that Public Heath unites across the Province be provided guidance that children’s dance studios are not fitness or exercise classes. Ending off 2020 feeling super thankful. To all our students, dance families and faculty - what a season it has been. Your perseverance, dedication and hard work has been extraordinary. Although ZOOM was definitely not our best friend, you all took each time and made it the great. The time we were able to spend in the studio together will be a favourite memory of 2020. The last four months have been difficult, but we had fun. We cried. We laughed. We danced and danced some mor...e. We made our minimal time together, the best time. We thank you for always being ready. Being ready for new restrictions, ready for new changes, ready for what this season brought. You took #Chapter5 and soared to the stars. We are so unbelievably proud of you all. To all who attended our holiday drive by - thank you so much. We had so much fun celebrating with all of you as best as we could.
