Axis Theatre Company 18.11.2020

Over the weekend Axis Theatre and Mortal Coil Performance held the first workshop for our show in development, CRY, HEART, BUT NEVER BREAK. The show has been adapted from Glen Ringtved's storybook by Axis' Chris McGregor. The images show the puppets of the story's children created by Frank Rader. In order, Kasper, wearing overalls, Sonia, in a pink dress, Leah, the youngest in a flower dress, and Nels, the eldest in a plaid shirt and jeans. They are so cute!... . . . #vancouver #vancouvertheatre #theatre #theatreforyoungaudiences #tya #granvilleislandtheatre #puppets #everybodylovespuppets #canadiantheatre #touringtheatre See more

Orange shirt day is a day to honour the lives lost and affected by the Residential School legacy. It is a day to listen to the stories of survivors and their families, and to remember those who didn't make it home. ... #orangeshirtday #vancouvertheatre #canadiantheatre #vancouver #granvilleisland #indigenousstories #indigenoustheatre #everychildmatters See more

Tomorrow we and many other arts buildings on Granville Island, around Vancouver, and across Canada will light up in red to raise awareness for the stages that remain in the dark. Our sector may be the last to reopen but we will not be forgotten. The Axis office will be lit up tomorrow from 7:30-8:30pm. @lightupliveca @liveeventcomm . .... . #lightuplive #eclaironslesscenes #vancouver #vancouvertheatre #britishcolumbiatheatre #theatre #theatreforkids #theatreforyoungaudiences #canadiantheatre #axistheatre #puppets #somebodylovesyoumrhatch #socialdistancing #actor #vancouveractors #granvilleisland #granvilleislandtheatre #theatrecanada #touringtheatre See more

Over the past few months we've been asked the same question time and time again: What will your season look like next year? We have a plan and are ready to share it with you. This next year, Axis Theatre will be working a little differently than normal. We won't be performing in schools or theatres but we do have some very ambitious projects in the works... September 22nd is the Day of Visibility - Axis Theatre will be lighting up our office space on Granville Island in red, one hour after sunset to raise awareness for the live-event industry that is still dark - and will be one of the last to recover. This initiative was started by @liveeventcomm @lightupliveca and we will be joining technicians, suppliers, venues, and landmarks across Canada to light the country in red. Please use the space in the comments below to sha...re your stories about lost events, either look-backs, or highlight members of the live event community who are out of work.
