Separation can be hard on everyone, especially on the kids. Dragging things out for months or even years during an expensive court battle can make it all that much worse. At AXIS Family Mediation Inc. we understand that, and that's why our process can be faster and much more cost effective than litigation. And we always put the children first. Contact an IRC or visit our website www.axisfamilymediation.com for more information.

Children are affected when their parents’ relationship ends. While you are trying to work out the changes in your life, children are going through their own emotional turmoil. Children need the support of their parents, even though it can be difficult to give this support during this stressful time. It is important to remember that your children love both of you and unless there are very serious safety concerns, both parents are going to have an ongoing relationship with t...hem. Do your best to reduce conflict with the other parent. It is not the separation that is most harmful to children, but rather ongoing conflict between the parents. To help you determine whether mediation is a good option for you, ask yourself the following questions: Do I feel safe talking to the other person, either face-to-face or through a mediator? Can I set aside my anger for the well-being of my children? Am I willing to listen to the other side of the story? Am I willing to negotiate for the sake of the children? Am I able to resist pressure to agree to something I don’t think is fair? Am I willing to uphold an agreement that is satisfactory to both of us? Do I see this process in terms of compromise rather than winning or losing? Contact your local IRC or visit our website for more info www.axisfamilymediation.com
