Plan the flight and fly the plan. But don’t fall in love with the plan. Be open to a changing world and let go of the plan when necessary so that you can make a new plan.... Then, as the world and the plan both go through their book of changes, you will always be ready to do the next right thing. Shit happens, and if we just want to restrict ourselves to things where shit can’t happenwe’re not going to do anything very interesting! Great post by our strength coach Sebastien Lagrange below Potentiation in Strength Training After spending over 6 years on this subject and analyzing over hundreds of articles here what you need to understand to determine the ideal combination of post activation potentiation (PAP) strategies for an improved strength performance.... IMPORTANT NOTE Although different protocols can be used to achieve post-activation potentiation, it seems that higher intensities induce better performance enhancement. All the results indicate that potentiation effect exists as long as minimum intensity and sufficient rest intervals are provided. More precisely, the results of those articles highlight the following: 1Experienced athletes benefit more from a higher volume potentiation bout (1-3 sets), especially when the optimal power load is used. 2Intensities of 65% 1RM are valid with high volumes, but higher potentiation effects can be achieved with 85% - 90% 1RM intensities. Higher intensities are useful, but they need longer rest intervals. 3Repetitions to failure or almost to failure are not recommended because of the fatigue generated (2-3 repetitions in reserve). 4Around 7-8 minutes of rest should be allowed in order to dissipate fatigue. Self-selected rest intervals are valid too, as they adjust quite precisely. 5Due to major sensitivity of type II fibres to calcium concentration, athletes with a higher percentage of type II fibres will benefit more from heavy loads and longer rest intervals after PAP protocols. 6 Complex protocols plyometric + strength training are the most useful postactivation protocols to increase PAP. ______ https://www.instagram.com/p/CUfuWXtppKF/

Athletes Performance vs aesthetic Fitness Here a recent post by our strength coach Sebastien Lagrange (https://www.instagram.com/p/CJKV08dnGTw/?igshid=gaibnhl9eywv) A conversation that I’ve had often every summer during the offseason with my hockey players ... Athlete - I want ripped abs. Me Okay, how is that going to help you play better on the Ice? Athlete It’s not but I want to look good on the beach. Don’t confuse contact sports performance with non-contact sports. If your competitions don’t involve flexing on stage, don’t train or eat like you are going to flex on stage. Training to look a certain way is not at all the same as sports specific training to make you a better athlete. Likewise, your diet should depend on your sport, goals and where you are in your training cycle. Undereat to get shredded and you’ll likely notice your power, energy, focus and recovery suffer. If you are undereating while in the middle of a heavy training cycle or tough part of your competitive season, your body is going to take a hit. Training and games will feel harder, and it will take longer for your body to feel ready to go again. You’ll probably feel like trash while on the field and after a game. As I often say, Do you want to be a GQ model or play In the NHL? If you want to play your sport and play it well, maintain your focus. Stick to a training program and nutrition plan that help you improve your game. It doesn’t hurt to work on how you view your body. Once you start appreciating your body more, you won’t be so focused on trying to look different. After all, that energy is better spent on something else. Ps: Yes Some athletes are shredded without trying (largely due to genetics).
Félicitation à notre athlète Zachary Lessard #axxeleration
