Breast Cancer Awareness Month October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. In Canada currently one out of eight women will be diagnosed with this disease. There is some good news regarding this life threatening disease. From 1975-2006 the 5 year survival rate rose from 72.2% to 90.6% according to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. Ongoing research continues to improve recovery rates, from 2002 to 2011 there was a resulting increase in the survival rate of 2% per ...year found by the National Cancer Centre. With the high incidence of women in Canada getting Breast Cancer why are we surprised when someone in our family or a close friend is given this diagnosis? Should it happen to you, you want to be encouraged by the progress on the health side of this issue. There will also be an economic impact. You will want to take a year off of your work, whether you work outside of the home or as domestic goddess. Having money to fill that economic gap becomes critical at this time. You can arrange critical recovery insurance which will give you a lump sum as soon as you have breast cancer. A 30 year old woman can have $100,000 deposited to her bank account for less than the cost of a cafe latte each day. Having a well-planned recovery strategy will make an enormous difference to your family and give you peace of mind. What if the news is very good and you do not get breast cancer? You can arrange your insurance to return your premiums if you stay healthy. Having a life threatening illness is serious, having one with no money is much worse. See more
