It’s hard to put into words exactly what I’m feeling after being invited to be the first to plunk down some money for bao this evening at #GongfuBao. Joy, awe, delight, humility, nostalgia (gaaawd SO MUCH NOSTALGIA!!!), and gratitude. So much gratitude. Gratitude for all the 47 years of my life that I spent in that space, gratitude for all the love and support that was showered on me in my time there and so, so much gratitude to Tarek and Emily for their grace, generosity a...nd for including me in their experience so I could have all the closure I wanted for mine. They owed me and my family nothing. And they’ve included us in everything. That will tell the people of Ottawa, and especially the great people of Centretown, everything they need to know about our city’s and neighbourhood’s newest entrepreneurs. Gongfu Bao will be a place that cares. A place that gives back. A place that respects. And yes, a place that serves FANTASTIC HANDMADE BAO AND DELICIOUS FOOD!!!
