This is the Hadith which Shaykh Saleem has been reviewing over the past 6 Jumu'ah programs at the Az-Zahraa Islamic Centre: "On the authority of Zurrah that Ab Jafar [Muammad ibn Al] al-Bqir (peace be upon them) narrated that the Commander of the Faithful [Imam Al], peace be upon him, said: The religion is established (or rests) upon four fundamentals:... 1. The knowledgeable person who speaks out (based on his/her knowledge) and acts according to his/her knowledge. 2. The rich person who is not stingy in assisting those who adhere to the religion of Allh; 3. Poor folks who do not sell their religious beliefs for the affairs of the temporal world; 4. Ignorant people who are not too arrogant to seek knowledge. Therefore, once the person with knowledge hide their knowledge; and when the rich are stingy with their wealth; and the poor trade their afterlife in exchange for this world; and the ignorant are too arrogant to seek knowledge, the world (society) will begin to recede backwards, retracing its steps. At that time, you should not be fooled by the increasing number of masjid and the multitudes of people of different nations (who pray in them). The Imam, peace be upon him, was asked, O Commander of the Faithful! How should one live at that time? The Imam, peace be upon him, replied, Associate with the people superficially, however, oppose them inwardly. One only gets what he earns and will be resurrected with whatever he likes. Await relief to be sent by Allh, the Honorable the Exalted. (Al-Khisal of Shaykh al-Al-diq)
