With the restaurant theme revolving around our "Rural Roots", it seems fitting our re-opening day coincides with the heavenly birthday of our Grandpa Morley Elmy. Grandpa was born in Kisbey, SK area in 1910 and resided in Kelvington, SK in his adulthood until his passing. He was an amazing horseman, trapper, tanner and leathersmith and instilled our love for horses as well as his wealth of knowledge with so many. Happy heavenly birthday Grandpa!

A lot of people bought our Comfort Care Package gift certificates for gifts in December which was so appreciated! What’s even more appreciated are the surprise messages like the one we received today from one of the recipients: I would just like to say that everything we had last night from our pick up was amazing. Khrystos Rozhdayetsia to you all! Ukrainian Christmas always brings back fond memories of the feast and traditions served at Baba Mary's in Foam Lake, SK. every year. Celebrations were always held with plentiful dishes and lots of laughter with bellows of "eat! eat!" from Dido Wasyl around the table. I will never forget how grandma would be cooking in preparation for days and was always the last to sit down at the dinner table only after making sure everyone was eating and ...had everything they need. She would always sit at the end and continuously jump up during the meal to gather more of her delicious food throughout the meal to make sure the dishes were continually filled. It is her recipes that we are so privileged to share with you all in the Ukrainian dishes that we offer here. She was certainly such a hard working inspiration and we all miss her very much - I wish I could tell her how much appreciation we recognize now as adults for what she has instilled in us. Pam'yat vichna Baba. I also loved when travelling carollers would stop in to entertain us on Ukrainian Christmas Eve with Ukrainian Christmas carols.
