HEY FRIENDS! It’s me Dawn - founder & creator of #backformorebites Thank you for being here and for joining me on this plantiful food journey. It’s been awhile since I’ve introduced myself so here’s 5 things I wanna share about me: 1 I love creating in the kitchen! Always have. One of my favourite kitchen memories is sneaking into the kitchen with my brother while my parents were sleeping to make our blue and green birthday cakes at age 6 & 7! We share the s...ame birthday - Oct 12th - but born 1 year apart 2 At 4, I knew I was a highly intuitive being. I also soon realized that most people were uncomfortable with this so I decided to hide it for many years. I am reconnecting to this side of myself deeply again 3 Creating through art has been a passion since I was young. Painting, drawing, taking pictures and sculpting with soapstone were my favourite mediums. I wanted to be an interior designer, but after studying Foundations in Applied Design and learning that I’d be designing on a computer I decided to pursue other interests instead. That’s when I decided to travel 4 I’ve been vegetarian since I was 11 and full on plant-based and gluten-free for 6 years. I gave up eggs at age 6 and always hated the texture and taste of meat. The thought of eating animals really bothered me too. Growing up on a dairy farm, of course this made me abnormal. I just love animals so much and have always wanted to see them living free, happy lives 5 Anything plants is my passion. I feel most alive and in tune with myself in nature and when I’m eating plants. If I’m ever feeling disconnected or need inspiration, getting outside always turns things around & lifts me up! Some AMAZING things are happening #bts ... 1 I finally received my biz licence recognizing BFMB as a food manufacturer in North Vancouver, BC - I am so overjoyed!! This has been in the works since June of this year when Two Daughters Bakeshop welcomed me into their beautiful #gfvegan kitchen space. Thank you Lisa Yes, I am totally framing my licence and hanging it with pride!! 2 My pic was chosen as a semi-finalist in this year’s Richmond Street Banner contest - swipe left to see my pics! SOLO RETURN TO BOWEN Anyone else feeling the need to practice more self-care than usual? I recently returned to Nectar Yoga - I felt an intense desire to practice simply being and honouring the fall transition at one of my new favourite retreats. WOW, it was an even more AMAZING experience than my first solo visit last summer! ... I practiced meditation & yoga (loved the walking meditation through the forest!), spent lotsa time outside in nature, ate some really great food, had a Tarot reading and a massage and met some of the loveliest people from Squamish and Vancouver. Thank you Andrea and family for creating such a beautiful sanctuary and for sharing your bright radiant energy & light. I’ll be back!
