COVID has been a challenging time for all of us. These past few months have been confusing and chaotic and have tested our resilience. And now, our health offic...ials are asking us to wear masks when we are in enclosed public spaces. They have made this decision based on the scientific information that we have so far. I've seen your comments, emails and had many conversations this week with people in our community and with other communities taking the same measures. I understand that we were feeling hopeful and optimistic as things started to open up - things are still hopeful and optimistic and we are still moving a positive direction! Wearing masks is just another step along this path we're on together. It's not a step back, it is a step forward. It's a step taken to help us continue to open up, while keeping each other safe. This pandemic has been hard, I understand and I've felt it too. My ask of you is this: BE KIND. Wear a mask to protect others and they will wear one to protect you. If someone isn't wearing one, assume they would if they could, we don't know their circumstances. Be kind to store employees, they're in this too and are feeling all the things you are. Be kind to yourself, it's been a tough year. As we've said from the start of this, we are in this together and together we will continue to make progress. Cest lheure plus que jamais de faire preuve damour, de compassion et de souci les uns pour les autres - faites le choix du port du masque comme lexpression de votre bonté humaine. We are all so happy to begin to see some normalcy in our days. We are back to a new normal at Back in Motion, and many more businesses will open soon in Ontario. We are very aware that this is a new normal not an end to precautions. Please remember to stay safe, social distance when you can and wear a mask if you cant. ... If you have symptoms, report them, get tested and call to cancel your appointment with us.

Thank you for your service!

Thank you to all the essential workers during this pandemic. Your work and dedication to protecting our health and well-being are truely inspiring. We are here to support you in our own small way. Though we are now open for all in person services, we continue our physical distancing, sanitation efforts, and virtual care options. Call in to know what to expect if you come to the clinic. You can book now for your in person visit!... Also thanks to everyone who has been treated virtually these past two months. You have learned with us how this new way of providing rehabilitation services encourages everyone to be active participants in the rehabilitation process. Recovery truely is a team effort with virtual care.

SOCIAL DISTANCING MATTERS. Not sure this will change peoples minds but there are thousands of people in Ontario waiting for surgery. Hospitals and surgeons wan...t to start elective surgeries again. BUT because our numbers are going back up because people choose not to social distance , we are delayed further. I am so frustrated. See more

Though we remain open to hands on care for urgent cases and we are providing remote physiotherapy to anyone who needs care, full access to physiotherapy and chiropractic care are important to all. We would continue to follow all recommended guidelines for safety and we have four closed treatment rooms for isolated visits. Please consider signing this petition.

Good morning Cornwall and area We have been getting many questions about what we can do with online/virtual Physiotherapy. Here is a nice graphic illustrating the various parts of a Physiotherapy treatment. Notice the biggest part of the pyramid (exercise, movement, and education) can all be done with video. We now see that the new distancing restrictions will be with us for some time, perhaps months. If you need care, if you are in pain, if you are injured and need to help to recover fully, virtual Physiotherapy is an excellent option.

Some of the latest developments in our COVID plan to continue serving our community. No one knows when we will be able to get back to normal business so weve been busy finding alternatives for our patients. Please share and like this post so people know there are some options for those in need of Physiotherapy in and around Cornwall. We are now up and running for Telehealth rehabilitation. With our video consultations we can assess your condition and give you advice, exer...cises and education to make sure you know what to do to help in your recovery. Give us a call and we can set up your appointment for Telehealth. Here are two of our Physiotherapists ready to treat urgent care clients in the clinic. We are having limited open hours for those in clinic emergency visits. Stay healthy and remember social distancing!

Ok so everyone knows now that we have to wash our hands after touching anything/ anyone that could be carrying this nasty new bug. But how many of us actually know how to do that??? Heres a really nice video illustrating proper hand washing technique. It shows how to actually wash all areas of the hands. Keep this in mind next time you use your sanitizer!

The Health and Safety of our patients and staff have always been our first priority at Back in Motion. Due to the recommended precautions from the province and health unit for COVID-19, we have started to actively screen clients before their appointments . We have increased our disinfection protocols, increased space between seats in our waiting room and of course continue our normal safe hygiene practices in place on a regular basis. Be assured that we are following recomm...ended advice and continue to strive to provide a safe environment for all in our clinic. We ask that, if you are sick with cough, fever and or respiratory symptoms please consider cancelling your appointment or put on a mask and gloves when you enter the clinic and identify yourself to reception. If you are sick AND have any potential or known exposure to COVID due to recent travel or close contact we will reschedule your appointment and direct you to your doctor or a screening clinic. Please follow the advice of you medical practitioner or the health unit.

Fall prevention article from the Freeholder with lots of easy to do tips for those at risk. Physical activity helps to increase your muscle tone and strengthens your bones, both of which can help either prevent a fall or limit the injury. Your Back in Motion rehabilitation professional can help you (or your loved ones) improve their mobility, balance and strength.

HAS MAINSTREAM MEDICINE FAILED PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC BACK PAIN? . I stumbled upon an interesting article today. It was, in-part, a commentary on the current sta...te of our healthcare system. Take a look . EXCERPT: "Chronic nonspecific back pain is the kind the medical community is often terrible at treating. Many of the most popular treatments on offer from doctors for chronic nonspecific low back pain bed rest, spinal surgery, opioid painkillers, steroid injections have been proven ineffective in the majority of cases, and sometimes downright harmful. . Consider opioids. In 2017, more than 30,000 Americans will die from opioid overdoses. Opioid prescribing is common among people with back pain, with almost 20 percent receiving long-term opioid prescriptions. . Heres the outrageous part: All these opioids were being prescribed before we actually knew if they helped people with chronic lower back pain. It gets worse: Now high-quality evidence is coming in, and opioids dont actually help many patients with chronic low back pain. . Millions of back patients are floundering in a medical system that isnt equipped to help them. Theyre pushed toward intrusive, addictive, expensive interventions that often fail or can even harm them, and away from things like yoga or psychotherapy, which actually seem to help. . Meanwhile, Americans and their doctors have come to expect cures for everything and back pain is one of those nearly universal ailments with no cure. Patients and taxpayers wind up paying the price for this failure, both in dollars and in health." . PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND EXERCISE ARE SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT INTERVENTIONS for chronic back pain management! They are cost-effective. They also empower the patient, and allow them to have a more important role in their own recovery process. . We need to put more patients in the driver's seat. We need to put more patients in control of their "injury", or "condition". They can act as their own catalyst. We just need to show them how! . What do you think? Has mainstream medicine failed patients with chronic back pain? . How can we help write the second paragraph and improve the quality of care provided in our healthcare system? .
