Until I became a parent, I prided myself on being a feminist for me, for the women I was surrounded by and out of respect for those that came before me. Then this little girl was born. The me became we and many times her. I want her to know to reach for her goals, to continue smashing those ceilings and using her voice and her brain to know when to speak up and fight when things aren't right, not to be minimized or stereotyped by the ignorance of history. To have the same op...portunities as her brothers, and feel empowered to make choices based on what she wants and not what is expected. On this International Women's Day, I thank all the women, past and present, for making the world what it is today.
