it’s still important to stay distanced & safe as much as possible right now, so stock up on at-home beans We have a gorgeous selection of wholebean @detourcoffee, with single origins and carefully selected multi-region blends in both filter and espresso roasts. We’re happy to grind them if you don’t have a grinder at home

Backroads Café & Tavern 06.11.2020

We are thrilled to announce that we are reopening Backroads at 625 Dundas St., a building that has been home for decades to the famous St. Regis Tavern. It’s hard to summarize the immense cultural and historical value held in this business and its location, and we’re looking forward to sharing lots more about the heritage behind our new spot (stay tuned for posts on this!). Built in the late 19th century, what was originally the Duke of York Hotel soon became The St. Regis Ta...vern (aka the Reeg), and has been a favourite local gathering hub in the Old East Village for years. . We want to follow in the footsteps of the Reeg’s legacy and continue to bring you the local tavern that so many people loved so much. We may have changed a few things and updated the interior (swipe for a sneak peak ), but what won’t change is a space where everyone is welcome, with friendly faces, beer flowing, and live music (Saturday night Musical Chairs will be back!). Your neighbourhood watering hole isn’t going anywhere we’re just adding a café and small batch bakery to it! You can look forward to specialty coffee, fresh baked-in-house treats and light coffeehouse meals in true Backroads fashion, with a classic tavern drink lineup including all your old favourites, lots of local craft brews, and more. Of course, due to the coronavirus pandemic, certain temporary restrictions will be in place, with distanced seating, mandatory masks inside, etc. We’ll update you all soon on these procedures. . Lots more to come on our opening date, the history of our building, renovation progress, and exciting new offerings you can expect to see from us. We’re so excited to hang out with you again, OEV See more

We’ve been a bit quiet over here on social media for a few months. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we looked for a new spot, started renovations, and just tried to survive 2020 with the rest of the world. It hasn’t been an easy year but we are really looking forward to re-opening and reconnecting with you all. There are a lot of wonderful people - customers, friends, fellow biz owners - who we miss dearly. We will reply to messages, DMs, etc. as soon as we can, and update y’all on our progress as we finish renovations. Thank you for sticking with us and staying tuned
