DEAR FRINDS OF VANCOUVER Sore Body? Im going to take a moment to tell you about my friend Gina Bela She Is a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner. ... Gine is new to van and is looking to get the word out, slash fill ups some bookings. What Is Osteopathy? Osteopathy is a form of drug-free non-invasive manual medicine that focuses on total body health by treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework, which includes the joints, muscles and spine. Its aim is to positively affect the body's nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems. This therapy is a unique holistic (whole body) approach to health care. Osteopaths do not simply concentrate on treating the problem area, but use manual techniques to balance all the systems of the body, to provide overall good health and wellbeing. What Does Osteopathy Treat? Osteopaths treat more than you think. Many patients present with complaints of aches in the head, back, neck, and heel/ foot pain; sciatica; shin splints; tennis elbow and repetitive strain injury. Other patients suffer from asthma; arthritis; digestive problems; carpal tunnel syndrome; whiplash and postural problems. Osteopaths also deal regularly with patients who have been injured in the workplace, at home or while playing sport. Contact Gina Bela for a booking and inquiries, I have been hurting from work and never stretching, and I'm looking forward to a session.

Check out the improvements possible after just two treatments on a client with scoliosis. These "Before" and "After" pictures were taken 2 days apart after 2 osteopathic treatments by a colleague of mine. Amazing stuff! #osteopathy_gets_results #scoliosis

***Gabor Mate Talk*** There's still a chance to see Dr. Gabor Mate at Centennial Theatre in North Van tmr morning (8-9am). Some free tickets have opened up on a first come first serve basis. Dr. Gabor Mate has been a long time proponent of mind-body approaches to health and disease. He has helped bring hope and relief to patients challenged by severe addiction and mental illness in Vancouver's dtown east side. ... His use of ayahuasca in treatment has been promising. According to Dr. Mate, "ayahuasca is not a drug in the Western sense, something you take to get rid of something. Properly used it opens up parts of yourself that you usually have no access to. The parts of the brain that hold emotional memories come together with those parts that modulate insight and awareness, so you can see past experiences in a new way. The natural human response to pain is to escape it. That's the essence of addiction. Ayahuasca allows users to hold (explore) pain and not run from it." Should be a fascinating talk! Hope to see some of you there

http://chealth.canoe.com/News/1010/34830?newssource=0 If you're suffering from back pain or other ailments, try seeing an osteopathic practitioner. It is a safer and often more effective alternative to surgery and painkillers. Rather than masking the symptoms, osteopaths seek to determine and treat the root cause of dysfunction. The body is brought back into alignment, unleashing the body's innate ability to heal itself.
