Back To Life Rehabilitation 21.02.2021

We are often asked if occupational therapy can help children with speech and language development. The answer is yes! We work on the foundational skills neede...d for speech and language development. This may include addressing the underlying sensory processing skills such as proprioceptive awareness (body-in-space awareness), strength of the postural muscles needed for coordinating breathing and voice, or minimizing the auditory input that may be distracting during sessions. Proprioceptive awareness is key for these children. They often cannot feel their own muscles and these include the muscles of the face and mouth. Primitive reflex integration issues may also contribute to speech delays or quality of output. We are happy to meet you virtually or have a telephone call to discuss how we can help your child. It takes a team of professionals to help those with developmental challenges. By working together we can build on the foundational skills to help your child. #Autism #SpeechDelays #occupationalTherapyAndSpeechTogether #OTmotorDelays #OTMotorSpeechDelays #sensoryprocessing See more
