As we approach 2021, many areas of our country are still deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Like all of our clubs and communities across the country, Badminton Canada continues to adapt to the local and provincial health and safety guidelines. Upon review of the upcoming months in the 2020-21 Tournament Season, BCAN would like to update the greater badminton community on the status of domestic and international events hosted in Canada until May of 2021. The ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and uncertainty left BWF, Badminton New Zealand and tournament organisers no choice but to cancel the BARFOOT & THOMPSON BWF W...orld Junior Championships 2020. BWF appreciates that some junior players will turn 19 years old in 2021 and unfortunately miss out on a BWF World Junior Championships experience. We can only encourage them to continue to develop their talent as badminton athletes and start to enter open international events. We look forward to a more consistent junior international badminton calendar in 2021 and the next BWF World Junior Championships in China in October 2021. Badminton New Zealand

Due to the uncertainty of when sporting events and large gatherings of people will resume across the country, Badminton Canada has updated the status of national events in December 2020 and January 2021. For those that remain as scheduled on the 2020-21 BCAN Tournament Calendar, BCAN will continue to monitor the situation closely and update our communities accordingly.
