Charles's Tuesdays Pickleball Tip On A Wednesday. When you're playing recreational games, try hitting more shots to the strongest player on the other team. Too... often players avoid the strongest player until they're ready to finish the point. Hitting to the weaker player 70-90% of the time isn't going to help your game improve nearly as fast as challenging the stronger player. Level Up Your Game! @can_pickleball_academy @selkirksport @tourna_tennis @franklinpickleball @tyrolpickleball #tyrolpickleball #wearepickleball #selkirkpickleball #tyrolpickleball #tournapickleball #franklinpickleball #challangeyourself #letsgetit #levelup #icandothis #pickleballaddiction

Charles's Tuesdays Pickleball Tip On A Wednesday. Hitting down the middle doesn't solve many riddles. Hitting to the middle often allows the best player to take... as many balls as they want! Which may give them more control over the rally then you would like. So avoid hitting the middle on all: dinks, lobs, drops and return of serves. Charles's Tuesdays Pickleball Tip On A Wednesday. It's important to remember that keeping your opponent back isn't always as easy as it sounds. If your opponent... hits a good ball at your feet, you may have difficulty returning that ball back low, deep and with enough pace to prevent them from potentially making a successful attack. Instead consider where your opponents will move to on the court after the ball leaves your paddle and put the ball to where you think their feet will be. Keep in mind the other player may look to poach that ball if your trying to play to the player closer to the back of the court. Now if your opponents shot is something you can easily attack, then feel free to do what you do best and end the point. Level Up Your Game & Happy New Year!!!!! Message us to have us come to your club and check out our website: CanadianPickleballAcademy.com Conseil de Pickleball de Charles du MARDI un Mercredi! Level Up Your Game & Happy New Year!!!!! Charles's Tuesdays Pickleball Tip on a Wednesday. When attacking or blocking balls that your opponent has hit with a fast pace, it's important not to over swing.... If you're simply trying to block or slow down the ball, an inch or two of follow through is all you need. Now if you choose to counter attack a fast paced ball, you don't need to do much, since the ball is already moving fast. Using up to a foot of follow through should be more than enough, to return the ball with the same pace or more. Level Up Your Game! Level Up Your Game! Tuesdays Pickleball Tip on a Wednesday. Don't change the direction of the ball unless you're ready for the consequences. When the ball is coming in low and fast... it's much safer to put the ball back in the same direction it came from. Changing the direction of a difficult ball can cause you to produce low quality shots(popping the ball up, hitting it in the net or even hitting it out). Changing direction is essential but there's a time and place. Level Up Your Game! Tuesday pickleball tips on a Wednesday. Choosing the right paddle weight can be confusing for a lot of people. To make this simple for everyone here's what you... should do. Find the heaviest paddle that feels relatively light and use that! You want the maximum weight, that you can comfortably swing. This will allow the paddle to do more of the work so your arm doesn't have to. Having a paddle that too light for you can actually make certain shots more difficult and having a paddle that's too heavy can slow you down. Examples: - You'll have to smash harder to put away the ball when your paddle is too light. - You'll also have less control when receiving powerful drives with a paddle that's too light. On the other hand having a paddle that's too heavy could cause you to be late for these types of shots. - Even something as simple as serving and returning deep is more difficult with a paddle that's too light. If you're still not sure get a light paddle and keep adding lead tape until you feel like that's enough. Happy pickling! Tuesdays pickleball tip of the day on a Wednesday. If you play Pickleball 4+ times a week, you'll want to buy a second pair to swap out every other day. The cu...shioning system or the foam inside the shoe can take up to 24hrs to recover after wearing. So when you wear the same pair the 2nd or 3rd day in a row you'll be more likely to feel it in your legs due to your shoes not absorbing the shock like they would if you gave them a rest. This isn't a sales gimmick to get you to buy more shoes either. Your shoes are more likely to last longer when you use this method. Tuesday’s Pickleball Tip On A Wednesday. Dead Spots On Your Paddle? This is a really common thing I always hear from players: Can you check my paddle, I think t...here's a dead spot! Out of the roughly 200+ paddles I've checked I've only found 5-6 that actually had a soft spot. Although about 40 of those had a loose edge guard. Why does having a loose edge guard make a difference? When your edge guard is coming apart that can create extra vibration when the ball hits the paddle causing a deading effect. Another reason this could happen is because you hit the ball too far away from the sweatspot or the center mass of the paddle. It's worst when you're near the handle or really close to the edge guard. What about the majority of players? Most of the time it's because they stopped their swing before their paddle got to the ball. So basically the ball hit their paddle instead of the paddle hitting the ball. Even when you're slowing down a fast shot you still need to follow through even if it's only an inch or two. Side note... Some of you may hear a slight rattle inside your paddle. This is usually when a loose piece of your paddles core has broken apart. It's normally around the edge where the paddle was cut to make its shape. I personally have not found it's to impact my play at all. Thanks for reading happy pickling! Feel free to post in the comments other topics you'd like me to talk about. Tuesday’s Pickleball Tip On A Wednesday. I’m in Florida this week and it’s been really hot. One of the toughest things I’ve had to deal with is sweat. That coul...d be sweat going in my eyes or my hands getting too sweaty to hold my paddle properly. Here are some ways to help combat the heat: A hat is my number 1 choice to help keep the sweat out of my eyes. A headband could also do the trick. The hand can be a bit trickier. The basic thick cotton wrist band will stop sweat from running down your arm to your hand. Having a towel to dry your hand is also a huge help. Having the right kind of grip on your paddle can also make a big difference. I personally use the Tourna Grip Dry Feel, I find it’s the best for keeping that dry feel I like. Lastly on the really bad days I will also rotate paddles so they have a chance to dry out. Happy pickling and drink lots of water.

Tuesday's pickleball tip on a Wednesday. This week I'm going to keep it simple. This tip is for players having trouble using the 3rd shot in a game. What we nee...d to consider is where the receiver is before the rally starts. This is most likely the player you will want to target with your drop with. If the non receiver is at the non-volley zone they are going to have the best chance to smash your drop. In a lot of cases at the 3.0 level players are not comfortable moving all the way up or are not fast enough to get up to the kitchen which will make being successful much easier. Give it a try and happy pickling. CanadianPickleballAcademy.com Thank you Ted Buck for the photo! Tuesday's pickleball tip on a Wednesday. Tip: Not calling the score is an awful habit even if it's "just Rec play". Here are the two main reasons: 1st reason i...s, with the small court and the lack of a high ball toss it's pretty easy to catch your opponent off guard with a quick or short serve if the score wasn't called. Calling the score gives them the chance to get balanced and on their toes. 2nd reason is it's so easy to lose track of the score. At least if you've been calling the score and forget someone on the court has a really good chance of remembering. If you haven't been calling the score it's all on you to remember! Happy pickling! Tuesday's Pickleball Tip on a Wednesday! Tip: Keep your non paddle arm extended from your body while you volley at the non volley zone. This will improve your b...alance and give you ability to reach more balls in the kitchen without losing your balance. #selkirksport #teamtyrol #tournapickleball #franklinx40 #teamselkirk #tyrolpickleball #tournagrip #pickleballtip #onedaylate #practice #pickleballlessons @selkirksport @tyrolpickleball @tourna_tennis @franklinpickleball

Tuesday's pickleball tip of the day on a Wednesday! Tip: The brain can only focus on maximum 2-4 pieces of information at one moment. which is different than sh...ort term memory that can recall 4 to 9 piece of information total. So if we take into account that you're trying to figure out where the ball is going to be after our opponents hit it, is just one thing our brain has to focus on. That only leaves room for 2 more. For newer players that could be something as simple as where should I be standing and where are my opponents standing. Once you feel like you don't need to think about where you need to be then you're probably ready to add something new to your game. For experienced players alot of things become automatic: court positioning, shot selection and ready position. So with keeping all this in mind, you're going to only want to try to practice 1 maybe 2 new skills in a game to have the best results. #selkirksport #tyrol #franklinx40 #tournagrip #teamselkirk #tyrolpickleball #tournapickleball #selkirkpickleball #CanadianPickleballAcademy #pickleballbc #pickleballcanada #pickleballaddict #ilovepickleball

Tuesdays Pickleball Tip On A Wednesday! Tip: Show up early to the courts & bring two balls with you when you go to warm up. There's not much point in playing a ...game until you'll feel good about all the shots you're going to use in the game. (Dinking, Volleys, Drops, Lobs, Smashes, Drives, Blocks, Serve & Returns). Here's the reasoning behind bringing that second ball. I see players all the time that plan to go warm up but only bring one ball. Without fail two more players walk up to the court without a ball and ask to dink with the two players trying to warm up. After about 10 dinks the two new players ask to play a game. For most players warming up with one ball is boring. That second ball is so you can hand it to the two players that want to warm up with you. This way both teams will get a much better warm up and enjoy warming up more. After doing this a couple times players will get use to the fact that you want a longer warm up . Now get out there and enjoy! PickleballPaddlesCanada.com #teamselkirk #teamtyrol
