2013 and then 2020. The rather famous, and iconic landmark for the center of the universe, The Fenelon Theatre Marquee.
I avoid news and politics like the... well I guess the plague would be an outdated reference now....but with the pending news of a provincial shut down Christmas Eve I thought I’d find something to share to try and raise a few spirits. For all the photos we see about the majestic and beautiful animals around the world.... they may indeed be regal. But they also know when to be ridiculous.
I thought I’d post this, in hopes it will get shared. One of the biggest concerns riding the wave of the pandemic right now, no matter the individual view towards it, is the state of mental health. We all have our mental health challenges, but mental health and it’s toll lies within the experiences of each person battling. What could be easily dismissed by one person could be crippling someone else. It’s not a competition. It takes courage to hold on through the rough times.... So here’s a photo from an area in Ontario that is my absolute happy place. A place where nothing seems to exist but the trees, sounds and smells of the forest. I hadn’t been there for 25 years and went back last year. I was immediately lost in that place as I was as a kid. Like it had just waited for me to come back, always a seat at the table. It doesn’t matter where it is, or where that road leads. I’m sharing this so that anyone that would like to look at that picture and walk themselves down that road and imagine what they might see and hear, or even stumble across. To take 2 minutes or 20 and lose themselves in a happy place. Share this photo, or comment on where it took you. Save it as a phone wallpaper.
One of my favourite things about hiking around here is the way the light plays and filters through the trees, highlighting random things and infusing them with richer colour, casting shadows..... painting an imagine that will slowly change before your eyes. I don’t always photograph those moments. Sometimes it’s much more wonderful just to be the audience for someone else’s work.
