The Northeast Avalon Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment team invites youth aged 16-25 to help younger youth by becoming animators. An animator assists youth aged 11-15 to develop their literacy skills, powers of expression and capacity to be of service to their communities. We currently meet every Saturday afternoon in Buckmaster's Circle. We invite youth aged 16-25 from the neighbourhood to attend an information session at the Buckmaster's Circle Rotary Park green space this Saturday, Aug. 15, at 1:30 p.m.

Baha'is all over the world are celebrating the 12-day Festival of Ridvan, the holiest time of the year for us. Because of the need to social distance, Baha'is are finding new ways to celebrate. Here is a celebration from the Baha'i House of Worship for North America in Wilmette, Illinois. Please note some of the segments were recorded before the pandemic. https://youtu.be/mn1gDlrWRX4

Let us put aside all thoughts of self; let us close our eyes to all on earth, let us neither make known our sufferings nor complain of our wrongs. Rather let us become oblivious of our own selves, and drinking down the wine of heavenly grace, let us cry out our joy, and lose ourselves in the beauty of the All-Glorious." - Abdu'l-Baha https://youtu.be/hG58lUqmED0
We have seen countless examples of solidarity and loyalty among health workers, teachers, professionals of every kind, and responsible citizens, who have readily responded to this emergency, demonstrating the innate nobility of human beings. Our true nature is one of giving, serving, and contributing to progress. - from a letter sent to the Baha'is of Italy by their National Spiritual Assembly about #coronavirus
Late February through the first day of spring is a season of spirituality for Baha'is. We are now on the last day of Ayyam-i-Ha, an annual four-day period of giving and hospitality. On Sunday, we begin a 19-day period when we fast from sunrise to sunset, leading to Naw Ruz, our new year, on March 20. In the following audio essay, we learn how all these holy days are connected in their emphasis on the unity of humanity and service to others.
Happy Ayyam-i-Ha! Starting today, Baha’is celebrate a four-day festival of giving and hospitality. Here’s a song from Andy Grammar to help us kick off the celebration.
