Recipes for strawberry shortcake date as far back as the 1600’s. Early versions often use a Native American method of bruising wild strawberries and mixing them with cornmeal to make a sweet bread. Today, shortcake is usually made with biscuitsunless you grew up eating a sponge or pie crust shortcake. Every camp is adamant that their method is right. #BakingTales #BakingFacts #Baking #Bakers #Bake #Cake #TorontoBakery #TorontoBaking #HamiltonBakery #HamiltonBaking #CanadianBaking #CanadianBakers #Desserts #Dessert #StrawberryShortcake #Strawberry #Recipe #BakingRecipe

The earliest attested mention of a cheesecake is by the Greek physician Aegimus (5th century BCE), who wrote a book on the art of making cheesecakes. #BakingTales #BakingFacts #Baking #Bakers #Bake #Cake #TorontoBakery #TorontoBaking #HamiltonBakery #HamiltonBaking #BakeYourOwnCake #CanadianBaking #CanadianBakers #Desserts #Dessert #Cheesecake #AncientGreek #GreekDesserts #History #HistoricDesserts

Boxed cookies weren’t how the Girl Scout cookie phenomenon started. Originally, the cookie baking was an at-home activity, and the cookies were sold as a fundraiser at a classic bake sale for the first time in 1932. The response was so positive that the savvy Scouts realized they’d maximize sales if they spent more time selling than baking, and the cookies began to be produced commercially. Enthusiasm only grew, and by 1937, more than 125 Girl Scout Councils were hosting sal...es. The offerings increased and so did sales. Today, it’s hard to imagine a world without boxed Girl Scout cookies! What is your favourite? Thin mints? Samosas? Comment below with your choice! #BakingTales #BakingFacts #Baking #Bakers #Bake #Cake #TorontoBakery #TorontoBaking #HamiltonBakery #HamiltonBaking #CanadianBaking #CanadianBakers #Desserts #Dessert #GirlScouts #GirlScoutCookies #ThinMints #Samosas
