I started practicing yoga 2-3 times a week roughly 8 weeks ago. It was initially just about becoming more mobile / flexible (tight hips), but the restorative effects it has on the mind and body are really astonishing. This was not what I was expecting! In my usual obsessive way, I ran across this interview with world renowned yoga instructor @Dylanwerner. Fantastic interview and insight into the world of yoga, mindfulness and inner peace. Enjoy! https://londonreal.tv/dylan-werner-what-is-yoga-how-a-mari/
BHB6 is up and I'm back to blogging! Been a while, but needed to write. Hope you enjoy. https://balancepei.ca/blog/bhb6-priorities-passions/
Thanks for all the interest in my new Functional Strength Program. First off, don’t be intimidated by the term. If you walk, you need a level of strength. If you hike, you need a level of strength. If you run, guess what? You need a level of strength. This program is designed to increase your strength and mobility so you can enjoy the activities you love. #blueprintforhealth #functionalfitness #activelifestyle
Have you ever heard of Intuitive fitness? Basically it means being in tune with your body on a daily basis. It also means learning what your body can handle before you start a workout/activity, as well as while you're working out to prevent overuse, injury, and burnout. It means being OK to go with the flow! That may be hard for some people to wrap their heads around (me included). It does NOT mean giving up or settling. If we are looking to create a healthy lifestyle, th...en we need to introduce variety and common sense. In the past I have had some rather strict and borderline compulsive routines. I would experience anxiety if I wasn't able to get my "scheduled workout" in. But I've learned (hopefully) and now I only have one expectation of myself; I'm going to do something. I felt a bit stressed and tired yesterday, so instead of pushing through an intense HITT workout, I did 30min of yoga. It was nice last Friday, so I went for a run with the dog rather than going to the gym. Some people feel great after a morning workout and others prefer to go for a walk or hike after work. There is no right or wrong. So listen to your body a bit more and recognize when it's time to switch it up.
