This lovely lady got to be my first session of 2021! She’s such a sweetheart; I’ve had the opportunity to get on her bareback in a halter and couldn’t have had a nicer, more sensitive ride. She could outdo anyone in the pleasure ring, when she’s not busy doing tackless as riding demos. After the session she got some #redlighttherapy and a #backontrack sheet, and she’s feeling pretty damn good these days!
Sometimes you gotta do year end and tax season prep... one naughty dog thought she’d join me! Naughty only because it’s the bench for the dining room table, the one piece of furniture the dogs don’t have free run of
We’re 11 days post-op and her leg is looking fantastic! The surgical site is tight and you can barely see where the incision was, and she has almost no swelling. She’s back to laying down to sleep, though she’s perky enough on our hand walks I get random squeals and grunts and head tossing. Today I had the idea that maybe she’d like to visit her friends on our walks, and mimic being turned out by ambling along like she was grazing. She wanted to roll, so I let her despite the inevitable levitations and rears once she got up ;) She’s been fantastic for her walks and bandage changes and this whole stall rest nonsense though
I recommend backing for virtually all of my clients. It’s easy to add to your routine, and has many benefits!
Just saying sometimes Facebook has great ideas... a broken fork can be rehabbed!
Confidence is everything in riding, and that means having the right equine partner for you. There are many very talented riders out there, but so many, like myself, that are firmly in the amateur category. Yes, we want to learn and advance, but having a partner that doesn’t kill your confidence makes that possible. I know of too many friends and riders, people I respect as horsemen, who follow the dream with starry eyes and get a young/big-moving/fancy horse without the suppo...rt necessary to nurture that partnership. That can mean acknowledging your horse needs pro rides, or a very hands on program. It might mean visits to a sports psychologist for yourself to rise to the challenges this horse brings you. Horse riding is an inherently dangerous sport, but those risks can be mitigated with the right partner and team to support you. For many of us, more average moving but incredible temperament is the key to years of happiness with the right partner. I only wish for my friends and clients to find the unicorn that keeps them riding and progressing bravely throughout their life.
I’ll be hitting the road again soon, with upcoming trips to #summerland #pemberton #squamish area and possibly #princegeorge ... If you or someone you know are interested or just have questions, feel free to drop me a line! #equinebodywork #equinestructuralintegration #equinetherapy #squamishhorses #princegeorgehorses #summerlandequestrian
As we head into fall, I wanted to thank my clients for their continued support over this past year. I know this year has been pretty wild for everyone and we still face many unknowns, and I wanted to express my gratitude
