TO MY REALTOR & CLIENT FOLLOWERS - Do you like M&M's? Are you familiar with the 80's rock band Van Halen? There's a rumor that in their contract that the venue hosting them would have to provide them certain snacks, of which one of the snacks was a bowl of M&M's...... ...with all of the brown M&M's removed. As it turned out this wasn't a rumor...it's true. They had that provision in their contract. When people learned of this provision they thought the band was being a bunch of Prima Donnas but that was far from the case. In fact, the reason they put that provision into their contract is BRILLIANT (this ties into our business in a very awesome way). See, Van Halen had a monstrous setup that far exceeded that of other bands. They had more equipment, more lighting, more everything which necessitated more safety precautions to be taken to ensure the stage wouldn't collapse and people wouldn't get hurt. Since the venue was responsible for setup, Van Halen wanted to do something that would help trigger scrutiny of the setup... ...enter the M&M's with no brown ones. If Van Halen got a bowl of M&M's with brown ones, it signaled to them that the venue didn't thoroughly read the details. Thus, the venue probably wasn't thorough on the setup of all the equipment and safety precautions and that they'd then need to check everything to ensure things were properly done. Pretty ingenious right? Well, one of my jobs as a loan officer is to look for the "Brown M&M's" buyers may have...the little things that might not be noticed up front but can cause major problems down the road. And I'm very good at finding these "Brown M&M's" if there are any. I'd like you to know that when you refer buyers, family member or friends to me, I do things thoroughly to ensure there are no avoidable problems. The question isn’t whether the Bank of Canada will raise rates this week....
