There are two remarkable points in the article by critic Akim Volynsky, who was following the performances of Le Corsaire on 1st and 5th of November 1915. It is interesting to learn, that among balletomans, by 1915 ballet Le Corsaire was not the hottest item on the program in Petrograd. For the younger generation, in comparison to dynamic of Fokine ballets, it perhaps seemed too cumbersome and convoluted. The old-timers had their own list of grievances. Some were still bitter... about demolition of Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre, which with its deeper stage seven coulisses instead of five in Mariinsky provided much more spectacular sea effects. That "sea" was a large part of Le Corsaire experience.
