I have always believed the mountains are an amazingly beautiful place to be married. COVID-19 Update Weddings - There seems to be a lot of confusion & misinformation regarding hosting a mountain wedding at this time. Some of the information put out by the Government if Alberta has been a little vague. To add to the confusion, many of our wedding venues are also in BC. The BC Government has different guidelines for BC weddings (Emerald Lake, Golden, Fernie, Invernere, etc.). Here is a brief breakdown. Alberta’s gathering restriction mandates for less t...han 15 attendees (expected until the end of August) and BC is currently allowing wedding ceremonies for 5 people (couple, marriage commissioner and 2 witnesses only). Physical distancing and other restrictions are also in place, and possible fines for violation are minimum $1000. Up to $500 k! While Alberta Parks reopened on May 1st (with facilities still closed including washrooms), the National Parks (including Banff National Park), are still closed. BC public lands and Parks are currently still closed. The Alberta Government announced it’s three phase approach to economic sectors reopening as early as May 14th. This includes restaurants at 50% capacity. However, the Government has left it up to the owner operator to make the decision as to whether or not they choose to open (and only when the can safely operate with stringent guidelines). Many restaurants in the Banff area are choosing to not open right away. Furthermore, in both phase 1 and 2 of the Alberta relaunch plan, non-essential travel is discouraged. There are many more factors and guidelines to consider for the safety of your guests should you wish to have a small wedding or elopement. I have written a blog post with more information.
