Dear customers; It has recently come to our attention that our customer who use Shaw for their email provider are no longer receiving our emails. Please log in to your webmail settings and whitelist our domain bankingonit.ca. You should also check your spam folder. Some people have spam settings set to immediately delete emails marked as spam so you may not have them in your spam folder, either. ... I'm not sure what has happened to have our domain flagged but this issue is specific to Shaw customers. The emails have not been bounced back to us so we were completely unaware that this was an issue.

Heads up to our valued customers that the main office is without power today while a pole is replaced close to our location. As the street is clogged with hydro crews, I’d suggest avoiding our street for paperwork pickups and drop offs until tomorrow. Thank you for your understanding! Now to hunker down for a day with no heat.
Banking On It Bookkeeping has been open and working throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. How are we keeping ourselves and our customers safe? 1. We have been back working remotely at our own home offices for over a year now. ... 2. We have closed our office to in-person visits from our customers and rely solely on our drop box system and electronic means for information transfer 3. The lids on our drop boxes are kept open to minimize the need to touch more surfaces 4. High contact surface areas are regularly disinfected 5. We wash our hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds throughout the workday 6. While we don't have a quarantine protocol for paperwork we receive, it is often left to sit before it hits our workflow and we are careful not to touch our faces while working 7. We have put a list up so customer's know they have paperwork to pickup so they aren't touching anything within the drop box unnecessarily. The list is also kept in the order in which the paperwork is located in the drop box. The safety of our staff, our families and our customers and community is now, and always has been, a top priority here at Banking On It Bookkeeping.
Business owners/managers: Are you looking for guidance on what you need to have in place to re-open? Even if you have remained open during phase 1, there are requirements you must have in place. https://www.worksafebc.com/en/forms-resources|a96b6c96607345c481bb8621425ea03f
Found this nifty little set-up for those businesses looking to re-open or continue on but have hand washing protocol for your customers and/or staff: https://www.walmart.ca//Water-Continuous-W/PRD35RZYRXPEECL
Just a friendly reminder for those applying for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) - this is taxable income. As far as I know, they are not deducting any taxes from the money they are paying out and you will need to account for this at tax time when you file your 2020 income taxes. Just something to keep in mind.
Did you know you can use your iPhone, iPad or iPod as a document scanner?
Dear valued customers: This Epson scanner is a great little unit and is currently on sale at Staples until March 24th. It's not available at the local store but is available to purchase online at this link with home or office delivery. We have one in our office and it works great. Great option for maintaining social distancing and exchanging paperwork with us, your supplies and your customers without leaving the comfort and safety of your home or office. ... Let me know if you are getting one and would like to know how to best send us your documents and I'll get you set up! https://www.staples.ca//2509329-en-epson-workforce-es-400-
From an email sent out to customers yesterday in the event any of my customers didn't see or receive it: As you know, Jessica and I both work from home offices. As of right now, neither of us or our families are showing any symptoms of illness and neither of us are aware of any personal exposure to anyone carrying the virus. My family is maintaining self-isolation at home to do our part to prevent the spread of this virus, however, I am still using the drop box system to exc...hange paperwork. I am trying to leave the lids open on the drop boxes but rest assured, I am also disinfecting them both multiple times a day to protect my family and you and yours. Our hours in the office are ever changing as we both have children at home but will return phone calls and emails as soon as possible. If you are uncomfortable with continuing on with paperwork exchange, please contact either myself or Jessica (whichever of us is responsible for your file) and we are happy to discuss options that are available now and on an ongoing basis moving forward to exchange the documentation we both need electronically. I am also highly aware that many of you will be or are already considering scaling back on your operations or closing down completely for the foreseeable future due to employees wanting to self-isolate or lack of customers due to self-isolation. Please note that in the event your employees are scaled back in their work or off completely, payroll needs to be run right away and Records of Employment issued as soon as possible so that your employees may access the benefits available to them through the EI program. We will need to know if they have been temporarily laid off due to the workplace closing down OR if they have been directed to quarantine due to illness or contact with an infected (or suspected infected) individual. Your employees do not need to provide a doctor's note - you can take them at their word. However, it's very important that we know the circumstances of issuing the ROE at the time we file it. The Canadian government has also disclosed today that they will be offering out funding to those of us who are self-employed and do not qualify for EI benefits. For more information on the current situation and supports, here's a link to the Government of Canada website: https://www.canada.ca//d/coronavirus-disease-covid-19.html We are in an unprecedented situation right now. It's important that we stay calm, keep informed and look after each other. Make sure to maintain social distancing which is not only important to protect ourselves, but especially those among us most vulnerable to this virus. There are many people in our daily lives with compromised immune systems that we are unaware of. Let's take care of each other and we'll get through this together.
Small business owners - here is an opportunity to share how this health crisis is affecting your business.
Last night I was honored to receive runner-up for Employer of the Year at the Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. I was honestly surprised to be called and short on words on stage. I’ve had a number of employees come and go - especially over the past two years - but Jessica Hitt has been my constant rock since March of 2014. Jessica, you have been my sounding board, my travel partner, my idea generator and my friend. I appreciate more than I can say how much you care about the business and our customers. And, I’m incredibly touched that you took the time to nominate me once again for this award - and clearly said some great things because we have another beautiful piece of hardware to display in the office! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
It's a beautiful snowy day - no rush to meet the deadline for paperwork today, Customers! Tomorrow will do!

Yesterday, Oct 7th was Krista's last day here with us at Banking On It Bookkeeping. If you've been in over the last year and a half, it's been her friendly face that's greeted you at the office. We're going to miss you at the office, Krista, but wish you so much happiness in your new position!
Today at Banking On It Bookkeeping we celebrate our lovely, Jessica Hitt! Happy Birthday, Jessica!
