Banook Canoe Club is run by a Board of volunteer members. At our recent AGM, we elected our 2020-2021 Board. Huge thanks to our outgoing board members and of course thank you as well to those who are remaining on the board. Also, a very sincere welcome to our new board members. We are sad that today is our final day of summer programming and member activity camp. In this very different summer season at Banook we want to pass along a huge thank you to our summer students who were coaches, lifeguards, activity camp leaders, gate attendants, and our office coordinator. You embraced the new rules, guided our members how to follow them, figured out new traditions, and made this truly a summer of memories for our kids and families. ... We had a very fun night at Rock the Dock celebrating the end of our summer season. Such a blast and with our pods safely distanced on the docks, maybe we started a new tradition for awards night.

Banook Canoe Club was sad and surprised to read the post earlier this week by our District 5 Councillor, Sam Austin - Councillor Dartmouth Centre. We want to add our voice - Banook Canoe Club stands with our community, against this racist act of vandalism directed at people of colour in our paddling community and our neighbourhood. As an organization, Banook Canoe Club will speak out against both obvious and subtle acts of racism in our community. We also commit to upholding our core values and continuously improving and learning to ensure an environment of inclusion, safety and belonging.
