After 36 years of serving the Barbadian community, Barbados Overseas Community Canada (BOCC) recently wound up its operation and disbursed its financial assets to various charitable and not-for-profit organizations. BOCC donated $50,000 to Barbados Canada Foundation to be used as follows: $30,000 to be directed to BCF’s healthcare initiatives from 2020 to 2022, and $20,000 to establish and fund a BOCC Scholarship of $4,000 over a 5-year period beginning in 2020. BCF thanks the members of BOCC for their tremendous generosity. This gift has provided us with the funds needed to satisfy our commitment to donate 20 Enteral Feeding Pumps to the QEH this year and will help a Barbadian youth complete his/her college or university education over the next five years.

The Barbados Canada Foundation is a proud supporter of the SickKids-Caribbean Initiative. Launched in February 2013 by the SickKids Foundation, this initiative is aimed at improving diagnoses and outcomes for children in the Caribbean affected by paediatric cancers and serious blood disorders. This initiative helps build health care capacity in Barbados, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago and The Bahamas, by training health professionals, providing consultation and diagnostic expertise, and developing and expanding access to treatment and supportive care.
