Barbara Pratt

I'm having a show. I really am! I've been saying this for years now. My last show was in June of 2015. I got derailed. I've had life altering things happen. It's been a bumpy five years. The last date for my show was March 2020, then yesterday we changed that to September 2020. It had to be done. I want to give my new work the time it needs, and the respect it deserves. This time, I'll be ready. I am motivated. I feel good about what I'm doing in my studio and I look forward to going there every day. It will be a sort of an homage to my mother in one sense and in another a salute to the lowly birthday cake. I love my work for a change and I'm really looking forward to sharing it with you in September at the Emma Butler Gallery...I promise.

I love this. He comments that the idea is what is valuable. I agree with that. It's like Jackson Pollack. You can't paint "like Jackson Pollack". He did that. It was an idea. It was a new idea and it's done now. We don't need more paintings like that, unless an artist can expand upon the idea, that is.

This is why oil paint is so expensive.
