A print of May Street off to the North End of Halifax today. Because of course it’s in the North End.
I thought my sales were over for this month, but this weekend proved me wrong. A gift of a print of Tide’s Out, Fog’s In, off to a couple in Yarmouth (it’s of a scene in Digby County, 60 miles from Yarmouth), and two of Duncan’s Cove, one to a man in Bedford, and one to someone he loves in Germany, who’s been to Duncan’s Cove.
A print of Ballantyne’s Cove is winging its way to Maryland today, a gift from a daughter to her mother, who grew up in Antigonish, NovaScotia. From my photo.
From Stan Collins’ photo of his home in Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland
A Ballantyne’s Cove print winging its way to Oshawa, Ontario this morning from my Etsy shop. From my photo, near Antigonish.
I guess this is what artists mean by a sketch, and I was doing it en plein air, or as Charles Evans calls it, outdoors. On our apartment patio, looking across the street. Even though we live in an apartment, we’re surrounded by woods, which is lovely. I’m usually more of a studio-type painter, from photos, but I wanted to give painting outdoors a shot. As Jim Gaffigan says, I’m indoorsy. Using Derwent Art Inktense Blocks and a Princeton Artist Brush #12 long round.
