Back in the office and getting ready to see clients in person again! This little Yeti needs to go on a vacation until it is safe to use sturries again. It will certainly be a different way of practicing for a while. I'm just grateful to be able to open again!

The first thing I do every morning is practice Qigong. This is because it helps my mind stay clear and my thoughts focused. How about you?? What is your morning routine?

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 01.06.2020

What is something that you are grateful for in your business? I feel so fortunate to have positive relationships with referral sources, great associates to work with, and the ability to bring healing to my local community. How about you??

Knowing what you want deep down in your heart and spirit is so important for making progress without losing yourself in self-doubt and feeling like an imposter. Living for yourself creates a clear path and brings along authenticity with it.

The weekend is here and I'm getting ready for some down time. What are you doing to rest and relax??

FRIDAY IS HERE! Every other week I immerse myself in a course on child development and play family therapy. It is such a great tool to use to support families who have had tough times. After that, I get to play with the little ones I am entrusted to support and heal...then it is the weekend! What are you up to today?

Mindset work was done early this morning and I'm sure grateful for that. It has been a busy morning with a few curve balls thrown my way. I love having a calm and focused mind so that I can deal with anything that comes my way!

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 23.04.2020

So many of us play small and live in fear and self-doubt. This is being at war with yourself. We need to put the weapons down and step into our own beauty to serve those we are meant to serve.

Imposter Syndrome can end up being a life long struggle if it isn't addressed. Why wait to find out that you actually are competent and have significant value until later in life?!?

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 25.03.2020

Today is a very cold day here in Manitoba and there are extreme cold warnings. It would be a great day to curl up with a good book and a hot tea. I hope you have a beautiful...and warm day!

Staying focused during adversity is sometimes difficult. Sharpening skills related to courage and strength make anything possible. In fact, it can bring things that seem impossible into the realm of possibility. Be brave. Be courageous. Live your best life!

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 02.03.2020

Play therapy is such a powerful intervention for children...and adults too. Sometimes we forget how to play as adults and would benefit from spending time in the imaginary realm. Have you played today?

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 26.02.2020

Getting ready to harness the power of play this afternoon. So blessed to work with the littles one brave enough to slay the therapist!

Adversity based resilience is born out of difficult circumstances. It is different than personal resilience which are related to characteristics like social skills, intelligence, and academic achievement. Adversity based resilience is the weight that a warrior feels when they have persevered through battle. Warriors usually don't feel energized while they are in battle but they keep going. This is exactly what builds resilience. KEEP GOING, WARRIOR!!

It is a cold Canadian winter night here. We are supposed to get down to 40 below zero tonight. These photos were taken at the same time but the darker is the sunset in the west and the lighter is the moon rising in the east.

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 10.02.2020

When progress is slow, we can become restless. When our minds become restless, we miss small but important experiences. If we embrace the pace, we find freedom to experience the present moment, our minds calm, and we are able to enjoy the small experiences too.

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 31.01.2020

Grizzlie and I had quite an adventure this morning with the freshly fallen snow. We are blessed to have a Silverado that makes it fun to play in the snow when the roads are drifted. Playing in the snow can be so fun!!

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 14.01.2020

Facing difficult situations can cause a person to feel a lack of confidence. When times get tough sometimes we lose faith in our own abilities. When we feel fear and push through it, we develop courage and bravery. Courage and bravery are essential resilience skills! Feel the fear...and do it anyway! (Little side note...partnering bravery with good judgement is always the best option!!)

Great example of a way to use humor when life throws us a challenge.

Isn't this the truth?!?

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 10.12.2019

Every morning I practice a routine that helps me focus on the day and provide excellence anywhere that I can. This quote captures the process of claiming a new day, creating harmony in life, and pushing forward. Today is a new day to rise up and greet with peace and joy!

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 08.12.2019

Cold winter night (-20!!)...pink fuzzy sweater...and a good book: SECRET THOUGHTS OF SUCCESSFUL WOMEN I'm not good enough.... I feel like a fake....... If they ever found out, they would know I'm a fraud.... This is the not-so-wonderful world of IMPOSTER SYNDROME. Its that nagging voice that questions your competence, undermines your confidence, and creates so much self-doubt. And...it hits be best of us too! For years I struggled with feeling like I needed another certification, another specialization, and on...and on...and on. It didn't end until...I realized...IT IS A FLAT OUT LIE! Unfortunately, it is a lie that a lot of people believe. I know my therapist friends experience it A LOT! Apparently, the more education you have...the more at risk for Imposter Syndrome you are!! WHAT?!? That is why I'm making it my personal mission to rid the world of Imposter Syndrome!

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 19.11.2019

Most of my professional life is built upon supporting others to develop resilience in the face of adversity. Bravery is one of those skills that is needed to walk through the tough days and stay focused on what is really important. It is easy to get sidetracked and stuck in the difficult times. Bravery is one of those skills where we learn about ourselves in a way that is tranformational!

Barbara Woods, Ph.D. 15.11.2019

Grizzlie and I are back in the routine of having a morning run at the dog park. It is such beautiful weather today and we stayed extra long. I hope you have a beautiful day!

In difficult interactions, it can be had to find relaxation. However, when we can relax in the midst of struggle, we have a greater appreciation of others and greater awareness.
