How do you decide on your goals? Are you a gut feel kinda person or a strategic thinker? I’m a strategic goal setter, and I often have a hard time listening to my gut.... so I’m working on it. Gut trusters, how do you do this?. . . . .... #documentaryfamilyphotographer #documentaryfamilyphotos #unposedfamilies #letthembewild #wildfamilies #momentsthatmatter #reallife #reallifephotography #candidkids #candidfamily #familylife #familyphotos #storytellers #familystories #nelsonbcphotographer #nelsonbc #kootenaylife #kootenaylove #kootenayphotographer #nelsonkootenaylake #explorebc #summerfeels #summeratthelake #realchildhood #letthembewild #childhoodunscripted
Listening to a podcast this week and they categorised people as "Askers" or "Guessers". Askers will ask anything and don't mind a NO! Guessers will only ask if they know the answer will be a resounding Yes! I tend to lean toward guessing (hello, fear of failure), but I’m conscientiously working on this... I sent out a bunch of emails this week asking! Wish me luck!! So... do you Ask, or Guess?
Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt like giving up. I have those days too. Lots of them. I don’t try to hide the fact that things can get TOUGH. Right now I’m navigating a major shift in my physical health and I’m trying to focus on the HEAL part of ‘health’ rather than the phonetic HELL part of it. But here’s what I do when it ALL gets too much ... 1 Remind myself change is constant and look for what I can learn in this new state. 2 Experiment with replacements for what I can’t currently do. 3 Get my carcass to a health professional. 4 Just cry it the F out, and then thank this body for what it’s done for me so far. What do you do when you feel like giving up? How do you turn things around?
I made a slideshow of my favourite 2020 photos (head to my FB page to see). Going through each session, I must admit I got a little overwhelmed at the breadth of stories and emotions that flashed in front of me. This year, more than any, I think we had a collective, coordinated reminder of what being with people we love means to us. For that, I’m grateful.
A tribute to 2020. A year that taught us: 1. The only certainty is uncertainty, 2. We are actually in this together. All of it. 3. Being with the people we love is really darn important. ... Thank you to each and every one of you that supported a small business this year. <3
This photo sums up 2020 for me. A balancing act. Uncertain footing. Storm clouds brewing above. ... An unexpected reflection, one that shows us how small we really are. A hesitation to misstep. Yet without that step, we won’t learn. We’ll be stuck. This photo shows me a willingness to work through challenging terrain, a situation where we will undoubtedly be uncomfortable. 2020 was disconcerting and scary and uncertain and relentless. I want to remember 2020 as an opportunity to listen and learn and to carefully, wisely choose my steps. Be kind. Support each other. Love yourself.
