So it's said that a farmer's season begins now...just as this season slowly comes to an end. I'm away from Barefoot Blooms today, but the women working let me know that our tulips arrived today! Can you guess how many crates and what their weight in pounds is???

GRAND OPENING TODAY! My dear friend Cathy Akinkunmi opens EUNOIA LIFESTYLE at 11a.m. this morning offering both curated and handmade items. My city friends, please swing by the shop and check it out! You might find a selection of Barefoot Blooms' dried flower creations! Cathy and I were brought together a few years ago as colleagues in the wedding industry. During 2020, Cathy had to "pivot" to keep her business afloat, but in doing so her new business focus lead to an all-to...o-real, in-her-face reality (sadly, not surprising) that there are so terribly few Black and ethnic entrenpreneurs across the city, particularly in "trendy" areas. Then, late in the year an opportunity came to Cathy to open a shop. Timing of this? Both terrible and perfect. Cathy walked through this door...to take a jump of faith, to be among those few Black entrepreneurial women, to encourage other Black women and women of all ethnic groups to find their power. When Cathy called me late in the fall to invite me to be a participating vendor in her shop, I didn't hesitate accepting. Cathy inspires me more than I could ever express. This woman rises to challenges with such positivism, enthusiasm, and warmth and I could only ever aspire to be like her. To be part of this endeavour energizes and excites me. 100% boxwood wreath This custom-ordered wreath is made with twisted grapevine, cotton twine, and local boxwood. No wire. No metal frame. When its time comes to an end, this entire creation can be put in the compost bin, or easily disassembled to save the grapevine wreath to be used for another project.

Happy Holidays! I'm no baker, but I have spent hours upon hours these past few days creating tonight's dessert. I was instructed to stop working and REST and RELAX. So I did...and I wish all of you the same!

The mosaic of colours and shapes and textures that came from our gardens this past season. Wow. But here my 2020 season ends. I have been promising centrepieces, but these will not be something I can offer this year. These next few weeks I will be sharing reflections of gratitude...with accompanying beautiful photos...for all the support my little business has received through this very hard year. It saddens me not to be offering centrepieces, but there comes a time when y...ou know it's time to stop. I have several outstanding orders to finish up this week, and then I will be closing shop for this season.
