Dear NHPC members, The NHPC was disheartened by the news that the Government of Alberta included massage therapy, reflexology, and other wellness services in t...he mandated business closures that take effect on Sunday, December 13. While it is the law that public health orders must be obeyed, we will continue to advocate to the government that they not restrict Albertans’ access to massage therapy and other wellness services at this time. We believe these are essential health services that must be available to people during this time of increased stress and hardship. The NHPC is currently lobbying the provincial government that massage therapy, reflexology, and other wellness services be allowed to continue in a safe and professional way. We commend your diligent efforts to keep your clients safe over the past nine months and will urge the government to recognize these efforts and allow you to continue providing services. We ask for your patience while we work to convince the Government that the province is better served when Albertans have access to services that support their physical and mental wellbeing.
