Let’s talk cover-up’s and corrections. Shall we? 1 In a perfect world, unless your old tattoo is VERY faded (more than 80-90%), removal is best before trying to mask the old work. However, removal costs time, patience, and money. In most cases, one may need minimum of 2-3 removal sessions (laser or saline), and after each session, we need give time to let the skin recover. 2 Colour correction and cover-up’s are more challenging to work with as compared to virgin s...kin. -The procedure time is longer and they require more layers -Client’s skin may be compromised or scarred from previous tattoo or removal sessions, hence healing may be inconsistent -Performing artists must have solid foundations in pigment and skin colour theory and expertise/knowledge in working with compromised skin tissue. 3 Powder or combination brows may be the only option for you unless your previous tattoo is VERY faded (90% or more). We all love a good fluffy brow but tattooing hairstrokes only is NOT a good option when it comes to cover-up’s. We simply need to work with larger surface area with shading to be able to cover what is undesired. 4 For most effective cover-up result, we may need to go AT LEAST one shade darker. 5 Cover-up and corrections are NOT a one time job.
