Tips for pets in the heatwave - We hope you‘re all enjoying the good weather! To make sure the heat doesn‘t cause any trouble to your pets, be aware of the foll...owing: 1. Make sure your dog or cat is well hydrated. Offer water after a walk, change the water in the bowl regularly as it could go off quicker when it‘s warm. 2. Cats that usually find their own water supply outside should also be offered water just in case! 3. The hottest time of the day is midday, so consider walking your dog at other times when it‘s cooler. Also shorter walks during the heat wave are suggested. Early morning is the coolest time of the day. 4. Never, ever leave a pet in the car when it‘s so hot. The car is like a glasshouse and heats up very quick! 5. Ensure that pets have access to water at all times. Use fans and air conditioning units to keep your pet's indoor environment cool during warmer days. Slowly introduce dogs to exercise when the weather abruptly changes from mild to warmer temperatures. Provide shelter/shade and water for all dogs that live outside. Keep your dog in a good body condition - overweight dogs are more prone to heat stress injury. During exercise, give your dog frequent breaks and free access to water.
