Great news Barrhaven! Today at City Budget 2020 my colleagues supported my motion to fund the detailed design for the Greenbank Road Widening project starting i...n 2020. Residents of Barrhaven have made it very clear that investment in our roads (sidewalks, cycling lanes, transit corridors and yes cars and trucks) is a high priority. The project would involve a new, four-lane road with two median lanes for rapid transit between Chapman Mills Drive and Barnsdale Road, as well as a new bridge crossing of the Jock River. In total $33.6 million has been approved from the Roads Development Charges account for this work. It’s no secret to us that Strandherd Drive is the new Hunt Club and the $103 million investment in the Strandherd widening is very important but we also know that the Greenbank re-alignment is critical. Approval today moves the Greenbank project forward and I will be looking for new ways to afford the construction. With almost 100,000 residents, a large Ontario city, and with 35,000 of those living south of the Jock River, it is imperative we move forward with this investment. I am confident you will agree this is very good news for Barrhaven.
